The audio on my game is "cracking". I strongly believe it's related to the volume pots. The cracking is worse when I turn the volume knob and it settles down to just an occasional crack (still every few seconds) if I'm not turning the volume knob.

Can these pots be brought back to life? Or am I stuck replacing them? I doubt there is some magical substance I can spray on them... but it would be nice.

BTW, there are 4 volume knobs as this is for a twin Sega Super GT. 2 for each cab, front and rear audio.

Thanks!

You can get contact cleaner at almost any electronics parts store and most Radio Shacks. Just spay a little in and turn the knobs a few times. If that doesn't clean them up, think about replacing them. Unless they are something exotic they should only be a few bucks to replace.

Ended up replacing the 4 volume pots with ratio shack parts. Easy to find and cheap.

I needed a new pot ("volume") for the Super GT steering. That was a $20 pot. Wasn't sure what to expect when it arrived. It's definitely built better than the rat shack parts. It also worked, so I'm not complaining.
