hey all. ive been reading about street fighter 2 red wave and rainbow edition bootlegs. these are considered black market "upgrades" and ive been wondering....is there anyway to undo the bootlegging and bring the game back to its original state?

From what how to videos I have seen, they can. All you have to do is replace the eproms that hold the hack code with the original CE ones. You can only use the Champion Edition eproms though and only the original Capcom CPS-1 board since it was the only board that could be hacked and not HF.

Hobbyroms can burn you a set. I think it's just two roms. You can use mame to look up the rom files it uses since it is a clone (of champion edition).

Yes the boots are of CE, so you can go back to CE or forward to HF.

22 and 23 if my memory serves me.

I have swapped out CE to Rainbow and it's just two roms. I understand that HF is the same two roms also. I don't know why 20 got changed.

i just bought a bunch of dynamo cabs that i want to restore back to CE. seems like the boots are easier to find. the guy i got the cabs from had that boot that is one big board but i opted not to take them. i want to buy the converted boards and bring them back to their original state. can someone PM me that can help with reburning the roms? i will pull out whatever needs to be and send them to whomever. will pay whatever fee is necessary.

so i got what was advertised as an original champion edition game and it ended up being some kind of a bootleg/hack. it looks like champion edition but it says something like hsien something, made in taiwan. can this be undone by putting CE roms in 21, 22, and 23?
