Adjusting a G07 and my screen is Way too wide. I've been turning the horizontal width coil clockwise and that's shrinking the screen in a bit but I've probably taken it like 5 full turns so far and it's still a bit off. The screen is also a bit off to the left, and I've already moved the H Position jumper to move it as far right as I can. Also, as I adjust the width coil, I sometimes get a scrambled image usually accompanied by that unpleasant whine, then I have to adjust the H.FREQ pot a bit to get the picture back.

Can someone explain to me what's going on here. Everything works, I'm just kind of curious about the science behind it and why I lose picture sometimes.

Also, the far right of the screen has a few really bright pixels on the very edge of the picture (NeoGeo Crosshatch at the moment) which makes me wonder if the picture is sort of folding over on the edge, can this happen?

The horizontal width coil is for making small adjustments to the width. If you need to make major adjustments, then you need to read this:

http://arcadecontrols.com/BBBB/width.html

If you lose picture while doing it, there may be a cold solder joint there on the width coil or a small crack in the chassis in that area.

As for foldover, that can happen if the caps start failing, but couldn't say for sure that is your issue without a pic...

I'm not sure if its a crack or cold solder joint, as every time I lose picture I just have to adjust the HFREQ pot a bit and get it back. I would assume that if you shorten the horizontal path enough you need to adjust the horizontal frequency, as your not scanning as far across the screen each time, but I really don't know too much about how they work together.

The possible fold over is very minimal, pretty much the last 1px on the right hand side is a fair bit brighter, it just looks odd. The caps are all brand new, the monitor has had a full capkit, sync mod, flyback and HOT.

It's pretty much ok now, it just seemed weird about the picture going scrambled while adjusting the width coil.
