Hey everyone. Finally picked up my first arcade cab the other day at auction - Xybots!

I also got a pin, so I'm not super motivated to make a 2 hour drive to pick them up in a Uhaul when I might be able to move both in my passenger soccer-mom van.

I don't think I can accomplish both machines in the van if I try and lay the xybots on its back, with the coin door facing the roof. I was thinking I could put the xybots on its side, with the coin door facing either the left or right side of the van.

Do you think this is a stupid idea?

Here is a pic of the xybots I got for reference...

Just make sure you leave it up right over night before plugging it in, You need to let the Aquadag levels to settle first.

Great tip. I'm new to this, so this is definitely a good tip for me. My dumbass would have been so cheesed at showing the wife and kids that I would have fired it up straight out of the van. Thanks a bunch

What? Aquadag is sprayed on and dry. What "levels" are you talking about?

And a crt is on it's side in half of the games we own/play.

Pretty sure he wasn't serious. I've moved plenty of games on their side and fired them right up. Aquadag is the stuff on the back of the monitor and is sprayed on and has been dried for many many years.

Clearly I'm just trolling... My #1 rule to anyone who is moving a game, Look inside!!! Make sure everything is securely mounted. The last thing you want is the Isolation transformer rolling around inside the cab bashing the PCB or monitor! If everything is tight, you can haul that thing upside down... it's doesn't matter.

Yeah, "aquadag levels" is like when the garage tells a little old lady that her car's blinker fluid is low. For only $6.99 we can refill your blinker fluid with the factory fluid to ensure your blinkers work properly for years to come.

Side or back should be fine, but make sure to open the game first and make sure everything inside is secure where it's supposed to be. Often people will remove a part (board, monitor, PS) and then when they put it back they will either just set it there or do a half-ass job of re-bolting it back on, and when you tip the game over it comes free and breaks, or breaks whatever it lands on. This can be very bad, so it's worth a couple minutes verifying that everything is going to stay where it's supposed to be.

Two things.

1) Open the game up before you move it and make sure everything is secure. If it's not bring zip ties and some other tools (philips, flat head, spare screws) to make sure everything is secure.

2) Check for lose things inside the cab. Screws, coins, etc... those can fall into the power supply, pcb, monitor, etc.. and if you don't see that when you turn the game on... you run the risk of shorting something out. Repeat this step when you get everything home.

If you want to know if it will fit, get Sketchup and download the models and measure them.

You can transport most games (99%) in any orientation you want and they should be fine.

It's going to be a lot more awkward on it's side rather than on it's back.

The base is square, but the control panel, monitor section, and base have side dimensions that could lead to rocking.

Kind of like a Tron game on it's back rocks around.

Gad Dang You!

I just spent 4 hours removing all my monitors. Then I took them to an Atlanta repair guy and paid him $1000 to top off and level all my Aquadag.
