Can I test a Galaxian board in a MsPac cab ?

The issue I'm having is with the controls , when I press to the right with the joystick , it doesn't always work , I don't know if its the joystick switch , bad connection in the harness to the board , or the Galaxian board itself . I figure if I test the Galaxian board in the MsPac cab , and moving to the right has no problems , I can pin point if its a board issue .

I had a Ms. Pac that was in a Super Pac cabinet. I converted in into a Galaxian by swapping baords and control panels.

If I remember correctly, I had to swap at least the location of a couple of wires and may even have had to swap sockets to match the Galaxian control panel.

It didn't take much, but I did have to compare wiring diagrams to get the directions correct on them.

Yeah think sounds wired different as well.
There was a page out there that showed what wires you needed to jumper, you could jumper up to shoot if you wanted to keep it in it.

I just wanted to do a quick test of the joystick , if it means I'd have to modify stuff , I'm not gonna bother .

I think that testing should be fine, minus the sound. I used a Galaxian PCB in my Ms. Pac periodically. I had to jumper the sound to different pins but it worked fine. In my case, I also rerouted the Fire button to the Player 2 button to make it easier to play.

At any rate, it should be fine to check control functions.

Yeah it'll work. 99.9% chance though that if you have a control problem it's NOT on the gameboard. I don't even know if I've ever seen a Galaxian/Pac pcb with a control problem.

Once, I did see a Pac PCB with a control problem that was related to the PCB itself. One of the resistor packs was trying to break off of the board. It was causing several joystick inputs to register as closed at the same time. The wierd part was that it was causing the game it was inhabiting at the time to randomly credit itself when nobody was near the machine.

I have seen a bunch with shorted .1uf caps that cause stuck inputs.

I think your board will work in a mspac cab but the sound wont work. Also, dont move the joystick up or down. One way is fine, I think it will fire but the other way will blow a fuse if I remember correctly.

I ran the aforementioned Galaxian board for a long time without a fuse blowing. However, my cabinet had a switcher installed. Don't know if that had anything to do with it.
