can i bypass the ticket dispenser on Pop-A-Ball II?

i got a pop-a-ball II from daughterdad the other day and although its fun for the kids, i always need to be around because of the ticket dispenser. there is a loop of tickets that are taped together and works by itself most of the time. However, there are many times when it gets eaten and i need to intervene.

is there anyway to bypass the settings for the tickets? if i unplug it, it calls for the attendant.. i cant find the dipswitch settings anywhere online..

well, i tried the dips, but they dont seem to do anything. the online settings dont either. i've emailed coastal to see if they have a solution.

lol, good luck. I've tried calling Coastal for help before and they gave me the runaround. I was luckily able to fix the problem I had with one of their games though.

I almost wonder if there's a jumper wire you could install on the ticket dispenser board to circumvent the ticket optic, I'm not sure how that would work though, the way the dispenser registers how many tickets are dispensed is by the notches in-between the tickets (the half circle cutouts) ... sometimes when the tickets aren't cut right (like if one of those half circles is slightly off-centered) the ticket dispenser will think there's no tickets, cause it's registering as a solid block passing through the optic, with the notches not reading. that's when I pull the deck of tickets out and reverse them. they come out upsidedown, which isn't as aesthetically pleasing, but at least the game stops with the out of tickets BS.

no, the idea is you'd need to trick the dispenser board into pulsing like it's dispensing tickets at the same rate as it would if it really had tickets coming out.

do you know what I'm saying? you can't have it constantly in an open or closed position, it has to still go open/close/open/close like the rhythm of tickets being dispensed.

only thing I see is replacing the game software with some kind of non-redemption feature, which I'm about 500% certain Coastal will not have/will not provide. :)

says along other things that it can be set to ticketless operation for home/showroom use

looks like this is about your only option other then the loop o' ticket you have now...or just fill the machine with tickets...

yeah, i did get that pm from him as well.. but for the price, i think my 'loop' of tickets will work with a little re-engineering..

We have these on a couple of our games at my CEC. I can vouch for them, they work perfectly.
