Hi guys. I'm looking at buying a sitdown Crazy Taxi Machine. My problem is I want it to put this in my basement and this is a big Machine. Is it possible to remove the base and the seat from the machine then re-connect it in the basement? I know it would be impossible to get it down there in one piece. Any suggestions?

I notice there is a lock assembly on the base. Any chance that holds it together or does that do something else? You can see keys in the lock below the seat on the base in this picture.

Oh come on, you can do it by yourself man, just look at your screen name!

usually the rear section/seat separates and the manual will show you how it's done.

Your biggest problem is the width of the machine. Even though
the shrouds on the side of the cabinet come off, the wood still
extends to the edges of the shrouds.

You may have a lot of trouble getting it through a standard sized
door. I installed one at a hotel once and had a major time getting
it inside the place. They had no double doors !

It looks like the same arrangement as my Xpand Rally Extreme cabs.

You unbolt the seat portion at the bottom and and the whole seat section ( from by the gas pedal back ) slides off a pair of rails.
Then you unbolt the rails from inside the bottom of the cab so it's flush for transport.

Yeah that would be another issue. I have double doors to get in the house but the basement door is a standard size door.

Ok that sounds easy enough if it is indeed the same on this machine.

Believe it or not I've broken these machine down by myself before, Daytona 2's, but same cabs it can be tough and you better be pretty strong. Otherwise two guys can get it done

I would make sure to have at least 1 other person help me move it. How long did it take you to tear down move and rebuild?

Can't tell from your pic, but mine has the coin box hanging off the right side of the cabinet. Needed to remove that to fit thru a standard entry door. Just a couple of hex bolts and molex connectors to deal with.

You can split the unit in two pieces. The base and the cab. You can take it apart even further by removing the marquee assembly and the seat assembly. The cab is heavy with the crt and steering assembly. You can take them out but it all depends on you at this point.

A dedicated Crazy Taxi does NOT break down like other driving games. it is a solid metal base that runs the length of the game.

I was able to move mine fully assembled downhill and into the basement with he aid of a furniture dolly and an extra set of hands. attache Furniture dolly to back of game and strap (tightly) under the dash up against the metal supports. Your helper can lift up under the seat to help his the whole thing back onto the dolly/wheels.

fortunately I have a set of double doors into basement but if it's a singe door then you will need to remove the coin box.

About 1-2 hours, you start at the topper, then the take the side panels over, then the steering panel, bezel, monitor, tuck all the wires down, then take the entire top wooden box off. You can take the seat and the metal part that connects the top wooden box with the base but I just moved it together.

Just to follow, up I got the machine on Friday. On Saturday I took it apart in my garage brought it into my basement in pieces and put it all back together again. I uploaded a picture of it mostly apart that you can see below. After that i removed the top part that holds the monitor from the base. I decided to leave the monitor in the wooden housing which made it the hardest part to get down into the basement but after a few scratches on the wall it made its way down. By the way it would be impossible to get that down there by myself. I had 1 person helping me. The base went down no problem as its much thinner. I have also attached a picture of the machine fulled assembled again in my basement with my other machines.

Thanks again for all the help everyone, and if anyone knows where I can get the back cover to the seat for the crazy taxi I am looking for one.

Great looking setup, great games! Glad you got it all figured out :)

I would love a driving game in my basement, but it would never make it down my stairs. I'd have to seriously disassemble it like you did and I just do not have the time or the patience. Kudos to you for having both! Looks awesome, and great lineup too. :)
