reason being is that i got a blank multi williams metal control panel from arcadeshop and put a robotron overlay on it. i didn't put the metal brace that goes between the top and bottom of the inside of the panel on till after i had put the control panel overlay on. if i put it on, it pulls the top of the panel down. will this potentially stretch the cpo or cause it to crack at the bend on the front top of the overlay, with it being stretched like that?

here's a pic of the metal brace i'm referring to. it's the part inside the control panel bolting the top of the panel to the bottom. i'm concerned about putting it on as it will slightly bend the top of the control panel down as it's bolted tight and i don't want to stretch and crack the cpo.

Depends on how new/old it is. When new it will take a bit more stretching than when it's old and brittle.

How much does the brace compress the control panel?

Don't know the answer, but would love to see a pic of the Robotron overlay on the Arcadeshop panel. Was just thinking yesterday about doing something similar.

Warm it with heat gun or hair dryer just before putting the brace on. It should loosen the adhesive enough to let the cpo slide.

well, the cpo's new. i put it on saturday. the brace pulls the top (monitor end) of the control panel down probably 1.5-2 inches. so my main concern is that potentially stretching the cpo around the front top bend which would cause damage.

now, if this were to crack or anything, would it happen right away, or is it something that would happen over time?

don't mean to sound all paranoid but i don't want to fuck up a brand new cpo.

If you are going to mess it up then it will happen right away.

The overlay still might crack at the bend a few years down the road, but it probably won't be related to that bar.
