Picked up a really nice Defender last week. To the left of the coin slot theres a strange plastic piece installed into the cabinet. Theres also some outlines of something else that was mounted just above it up to the control panel. It doesnt seem wide enough for a dollar collector. Anyone have any ideas? I can try to take better pics.

looks like a ticket dispenser... why the hell someone would put a ticket dispenser on a defender is beyond me!

I was thinking ticket dispenser also. Takes a real sadist to put a ticket dispenser on a defender. That game is nearly impossible.

Curious about this since I love Defender and don't remember ever seeing a ticket dispenser on a machine that old. When I first looked at it, I assumed it was some part of a removed lock bar (along with the hole beside the coin door).

Are those two screws above it part of that assembly? They're pretty far up and not part of the original cabinet either.

Its interesting. Definitely not part of the lock bar, I took that off myself. Hard to see in the photos but from where the screws are down to the plastic piece you can see and outline imprinted on the cab of a rectangle that as there. So, it looks like something went from the CP down to that thing about 2 to 3 inches across.

Sometime in the early 90's they tried to 'retrofit' classics to make them appeal to kids at the arcade malls, etc. Hence, the ticket dispenser. That looks like one of these instances.

And if you bought that I've got some oceanside property in Arizona for sale-cheap!

Its a snow cone maker!

Does it appear the Defender was converted and then de-converted? I had a Joust that still had all the Joust parts in it but had been converted to an 8-liner. Swapped the control panel and it was back to Joust... with a bill acceptor, ash tray, and a credit clear button on the back of the cabinet....

I'd say it was for a ticket dispenser and it probably picked up power and ground connections off the control panel or coin door.
