I need a plexi cover for a pinball (for the speaker/DMD frame). It is rectangular with 2 circles...

Get a piece of lexan... you can then cut it all you want with any saw or drill bit.

Plexi is a pain in the ass... but doable... but why mess with it? Lexan is so easy.

I have cut loads of Lexan, it cuts easily with a hand jig saw and a fine blade. It has a very high melting point, so when you are cutting, it does not start to melt.

I have cut some plexi in the past, but have not been able to cut it like Lexan.

Lexan does scratch easier, but it is also unbreakable. I buy my Lexan at Home Depot, Lowe's stocks it too, if you decide to do it on your own.

Lexan for a DMD cover and speaker panel on a pin might be OK since it is not touched that much to get scratches.

They also sell scratch-resistant lexan. I have a local plastics company that can make custom plastic/lexan for me - including holes. Check your nearest big city....

Thanks everyone.

I am okay with Lexan... Cutting the circles are what am concerned about as I dont have a hole saw big enough... they are about 4" in diameter...

even the scratch resistant scratches easy, but i only used lexan in replacement windows in my drag honda crx

Well, you could do it the long way- draw a 4 inch hole on a piece of MDF, cut it out and then use the MDF as a template to cut the plexi/lexan with a flush trim router bit.

draw it up in a vector and find a local place that can just laser cut it in plex
or maybe shoot Prok a PM for a price
much easier than cutting by hand for sure and for the extra $$:D

I chatted with Prok about it. His large laser cutter is down, so he cannot cut it...

Just make a template of the holes, trace it on the Lexan and cut it with a hand jig saw and fine blade as I mentioned. You don't need a hole saw. I cut circles for 90% of the stuff I cut in laxan, you just need a steady hand and cut your line. You can do it!

If you have a local Harbor Freight they have a hole saw kit that goes from 3/4 to 5" for like 7.99...its a pretty kewl little kit to have on the shelf

have that exact kit! comes in a grey injection molded box. I don't use it often, but when i do it is worth it's weight in gold!

Crack.. Did someone ask if there is anyone that can crack plexi.. I'm here that's me.. Master plexi cracker at your service. :) Actually I can do quite well cutting either plexi or lexan. I have found that the key to plexi is my Rotozip.
