I just installed a full cap kit, flyback, and hot on this K7000 chassis. Now I have an issue that I did not have before. I can't really describe the issue in words so I attached a video of what it's doing. Also if you look closely the yellow letters on the screen have a line coming out of the bottom of each one and I have been having trouble all day getting the picture to focus and no matter what I do I cannot get it perfect. Be sure to turn your voulume up pretty high to hear the noise it makes along with the issue.

Have you looked at the back of the monitor when it's making the noise? It sounds to me like a flyback arcing, which usually causes the screen to flicker, kinda like that. Of course you just replaced the flyback, but that doesn't mean it's not bad.

Make sure the anode is firmly inserted into the tube hole. if thats ok, and neckboard ground is hooked up properly, i got an idea. pull the chassis and check for cracked solder around the yoke area and the r101 area( as well as other large resistors.

im willing to bet you have abad solder connection somewhere. make sure to fully desolder r101 as sometimes those traces need to be scraped clean again then resoldered.

best of luck!!!!

Yeah!! Bad flyback is the first thing I considered as I have seen those same symptoms before due to a bad flyback, could it be my new one is defective? If so that sucks. Anyone know if bob roberts does returns? lol I have looked at the back of the monitor with the lights completely out and saw no flashing.

Cracked solder around the yoke area? Do you mean where the two harnesses plug in from the neckboard to the chassis? I ask because the yoke is on the monitor lol. Should I have gotten a critical safety cap? I hear those are problems with this chassis also. Would not replacing that give me this issue and would these issues result in graphics problems? My graphics are now being affected, they blink and change colors.

Can you hear where the sound is coming from? It seems like a loud sound like that should be a pretty good clue of where the problem is.

Its very hard to tell because of the orientation of the monitor in the cabinet. The monitor is up high inside, the top of the opening in the rear is lower then the bottom of the chassis.

Ah... can you run it outside the cabinet? You're probably gonna have to pull the monitor to fix whatever is causing it anyway. And was the old flyback bad, or did you just replace it for preventative maintenance? If it was fine, I'd try swapping it back in.

Since I had been having issues all day with it I left the monitor unbolted and have been removing the whole assembly on and off during the day. I even took it over to a fellow klov'r and they couldn't figure it out either. He thinks the tube may need a rejuve. I don't think the old flyback was bad but figured after 20+ years it would do good to replace it. I did not have the issue before hand. I planned to replace the old one today. My main issue was and extreme amount of cloudiness in the picture, it just would not sharpen up, so I ordered the rebuild kit. This is just my luck that I try to fix a problem and it comes out worse afterwards.

I don't think the tube would cause that... that looks like something in the circuitry shorting out, causing the collapse. Also, if your colors are flashing on and off, did you resolder the header pin for the input signal? There's usually broken solder joints there.

Have you tried it with a different pcb? I have seen IC's in the sync circuit cause similar problems. Probably not your issue since it was fine before working on it.
I second the vote for cracked solder joint or possibly a broken/bad pot.
