Anyone here ever rig up a switching power supply in a Atari System 1 game like Road Blasters, etc? I've got a RB that doesn't want to work and I was thinking of trying that, although I understand it will need an separate amp for the audio, but can it be done?

If so I'm surprised nobody is selling a kit for it as the ARIII boards are notoriously unreliable.

Does anyone know how important the original System 1 transformers are in running these games? (I'm entertaining the plausibility of plugging Indiana Jones into a JAMMA cabinet).

Thanks.

I have them in 2 of mine I think? The transformer was for the older monitors. New montors don't need the transformer but it won't hurt it either.

System 1 uses a switching PS. Either atari or happ type. Here is a RB with atari type.

here is another one with switcher put in to replace atari PS.

I think you might be getting confused with the ARIII?

That was original from factory....i have 2 of them(System 1 Cabs)that way,and it shows it in the atari roadblasters manual.

A friend had two Roadblasters on his route. Both had the original Atari switching regulator power supplies in them. As those original power supplies died, I promptly replaced them with good old reliable Peter Chou power supplies. I tossed the original Atari switching regulator power supplies straight into the trash where they belong.

I know the ARIII PCBs are garbage. I just want to be able to plug Indy into one of my JAMMA cabinets via an adaptor. Am I correct in assuming that all I have to worry about is the audio amp?

Thanks.

I want to use the audio II but dont have a transformer anyone know how I could send the 12 volts VAC to it ? with a wall adapter maybe?

anyone ever done something like this?

My Road Blasters had a switcher in it. It came to me that way so I'm not sure what all was done to make it work but there wasn't any A/C adapter in the cab.
