So I know typically convergence is an issue with the neck rings or the yoke, but could it possibly be caused by a bad/poor/failing chassis as well? I've got a Neo Geo cab that's been sitting in my garage for months while I try to figure out what to do with it. It has a 25" monitor and I forget what no-name chassis (some pics here http://imgur.com/a/Hk9IR). Anyway the center of the screen isn't too bad (except not as bright as it should be), but the convergence along the edges is HORRIBLE (http://imgur.com/a/VjamE) causing things to look very blurry in-game.
I was considering getting a 25" consumer CRT TV and buying one of those Wei-ya universal chassis, but I'm curious if there's a chance my current tube is fine but just has a crappy failing chassis. I really don't think I have the skills to re-seat the yoke to fix the convergence issues if that's truly the problem
To summarize, the current monitor/chassis issues are:
1.) awful convergence issues (except center of the screen)
2.) Too dim even after adjusting the flyback transformer
3.) Some weird issues where the image appears to be too wide horizontally, where it "wraps around" behind the screen making that edge or edges have some bright almost double exposure look (hard to describe). I only seem to recall it being in-game on Neo Geo. Something older like Double Dragon where the image isn't "too wide" didn't have the issue.
