On my Ms. Pac machine, the coin lights are out. The harness is hacked to Hell, and I don't know what impact might be done to the "rigging" if I try putting things back as they were. I know the coin lights require a 12V connection and a return, and this game has a switcher in it- I was wondering if I could just run a 2nd wire off of the 12V screw to the coin lights, and then an appropriate place for the return (maybe the ground on the switcher)?

Please let me know your thoughts when you have time- I promise not to go in like a tool and wire this up without guidance (mainly because I couldn't deal with blowing up my Ms. Pac).

Yes, but make sure you run a ground wire from the switcher to the lights also....

Awesome guys, thanks!! That means soon my Ms. Pac will have coin lights for the first time since 2006 when I got her!

Check the power consumption on the lights first. Somebody here posted a list of bulbs and power consumption to one of the forums. A couple of the bulb types suck up a surprising amount of juice. A lot of the switchers don't put a lot of power off of the 12V, so it may be good to check first.

theres a 2 pin molex connector for the coin lights that sits int he bottom fo the cab.. it usually always corrodes. Check that just to make sure thats not an issue before you "rig"

but yeah worse case running soem fresh wires is a good option.. not original but at least youll know youve got a fresh circuit there thatll work for another 20 years

So after talking to everyone here, I'm proud to say that for the first time in the 4 years that I've owned my Ms. Pac, I HAVE COIN LIGHTS!!!! I can't believe it.

In one night I resolved the sound issue that's been plaguing it for 3 months, and after getting the update about the switcher tonight I decided after the kids went to bed to go out there and run some fresh wire.. Next thing you know.. BLAMMO! I have coin lights!!! I just stood there and stared at it for a good 20 minutes.. I swear it up's the class factor by 100 when you get those buggers runnin'!

Now if only I could get you guys a better "in the dark" pic..

PS: the bulbs I put in it for now are 194's. If I should be running a cooler bulb please let me know.

Goddam I love this site. You guys really are awesome. :D

eh, thats what i got in all my midways.. no complaints so far..

the reason i use 194s? we use em in cars at work so they are always plentiful ;)

The funny thing is, I'm having the same problem with my TRON coin lights, and I just happen to have 2 more switchers sitting in the garage.. Hmmmm [enter Jeopardy music]
