Ok people, I'm about to go upon a vacation in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, I haven't had a vacation in seven *bleep'n* years and I thought I'd throw it out there for suggestions.

What should I do and where should I go?

Here's the list I have thus far, and I'm leaving from Whitinsville, MA:

The funspot Arcade in Laconia NH, I'll go there if I have to crawl on bloody stumps!
Ruggles Mine, Grafton
Tripoli Road, I may camp there just so I can get in the area a day earlier!
Dianna's Bath in the White Mountains
The Lost River
Glen Falls
Clark's Trading Post
See the "Old Man of the Mountain" viewing area, or at least where it USED to be, and see if that bronze brail plack is still there to tell blind people what they can't see that's no longer there.
Drive to the top of Cathedral ledge, probably NH's greatest Darwin Award generator
North Conway, the usual spots, including Zeb's general store, several rock collecting shops, camping supply, army surplus and book stores
The Lost River
Stop at Lincoln where there's a lot of great shops and restaurants
Mount washington, of course
Mount Cannon, Tram ride to the summit
Maybe Mount Black Cap, if I feel I'm up to the hike
The Mount Attatash Slides, try and keep me away from those F'n things!
Hiking Mount Willard, something I usually consider my "warm up" mountain
See a movie at the North Conway Mall, assuming it's still there
Breakfast at the Blueberry Muffin, my favorite place with the world's best pancakes!
Hike Mount Avalon, and given the shape I'm in, probably a Darwin Award generator for myself
Hike Mount Webster, a suicide mission if Avalon didn't bury me.

Ok my fellow New Englanders, give me your suggestions!

Holy crap dude... are you stalking me? :D
We're headed out to do a tour of NE for the next 2 weeks and are visiting some of the same spots!
I wish I had some suggestions for ya, but it'll be my first time in that neck of the woods.

enjoy man!

Stick your hand out the window and wave "hi" to all the passerbys, that way I can wave back! I'm staying at the Littleton KOA campground, tell me you're not planning to stay there?

You driving up Mt Washington, or riding the Cog Railway? (I've done the latter, it's neat. Try and go early and ride behind one of the old steam engines). There's also a train ride in North Conway (trains are my other hobby besides arcade games :D )

I'm VERY tempted to take the cog but it's damn expensive ($39 last time I was there), I may, but it's more likely I'll take the "stages", which is the bus ride up to the summit.

Will do!
We're going to be all over the place, but we will be at the Twin Mountain KOA for at least a night (20 miles away!)

cheers

I've stayed there once! I hiked Cherry/Mount Martha nearby on the idea that it had a fire tower at the top, but what the map didn't show was they took it down! :(

You using a tent, camper or a cabin? I usually use a cabin as they're only about $50 a day and are well worth it, the only thing that agrivated me about Twin Mountain was that is was awefully close to a highway, it was like camping off of I95 in my area, though other than that it's a GREAT campground! Play some Revolution X in their rec room for me if it's still there!

Check out Dianna's Bath and the Lost River especially if you have kids, they're a lot of fun, and the Mount Attatash Alpine Slides are mandatory if you're in the area! Again, the Blueberry Muffin restaurant in North Conway is recommended if you're looking for an awesome breakfast!

I'd love to find a fire tower ... something to hunt for :)
Here's the camping gear...

Sleeps 4 and has a fridge, sink, and stove!
Always have to check out the campground game rooms ;)

When I was a kid in the late 60's early 70's we used to go to a pretty cool placed called the Polar Caves.

Yeah, it's alot more than that. I think I paid $60 a couple years ago. Looks like adult tickets are $62 right now. Also, if you're looking for any more arcade stuff to do, it's the opposite direction, but there's Pinball Wizard Arcade in Pelham NH that has a huge lineup. Classics, modern games, both video and pinball.

The Polar Caves are cool if you're a kid but the Lost River is at least a 100 times better, it's less a pile of rubble like the prior than something carved by 1000's of years of water flow.

There's a barn-style used stuff store at the end of the Kangamangus highway which had slot machines for like $200 last time I was up there, it's very much on my mind and I plan to check it out, if it's plausible I may go home with one of them in my trunk!

There used to be an Alpine Slide in Gilford, NH too. I still have scars on my hand from a full speed wipeout in 1981.

The cruise on the US Mail boat Sofie C is interesting too. It delivers mail to the islands on Lake Winnipesaukee. Departs from Weirs Beach.
