Call for DK and Radar Scope tag/cabinet data

I was hoping someone else would reply but since no one has yet I'll guess. I am going to say no. I think it is just a dip switch setting. I don't think cabinet serial number info is on nintendo boards, just model number and a board serial number. I have not seen anything to suggest that board serial numbers are tied to specific cabinet types.

Thanks, Murph:
The bezel does have a copywrite, but is in better condition than the other plastics, so had likely been replaced. The T moulding was definately replaced. No copywrites on marquee or CP. Never any side art. The instruction sheet stapled inside the back door is DK.

Usually, production serial numbers start with 101.
I remember that all 4 of my boards were individually numbered differently, but closely (...around the 120's.)

There is a potential range of only twenty numbers between the last two known RS cabinet serial numbers ...and the serial number of this one. This cabinet serial number range and further by the range between my board sets and a likely 101 start, tends to confirm this.

I don't believe this to be the first DK. I do believe this cabinet to be the first to be identified within this range.

Are there others still around?
Let's keep this thread alive!

Radiac. Thank and Interesting. There was a change made based on the attached memo starting with serial number 30,000 and after. Your machine is the closest to that change so far. The memo implies but does not state specifically that the change to TKG4 happened at serial number 30,000. At least that's how I read it. It says the chip change happened at the factory at serial 30,000 and then goes on the say that TKG4 also have the new 2 P.C. board set. I think it says that TKG4 started at serial 30,000 but am not positive.

Also interesting that you have the multi-wiring and not the single edge connector to the pcb board.

So, what was the reasoning for using the multiple wiring anyway? I mean, the board is set up for the edge connector. Why not use it?

The early 4 board set used in TKG2 and TKG3 did not have the edge connector.

Jscott - Info on your blue cabinet serial 33XXX. Does it have the multi wiring harness?

Also add my dad's Blue cab; TKG4-UP-US 160881
Converted to Duck Hunt with 2nd data plate; MGS 28354 PAK
Multi harness present appears factory conversion.

JSCOTT asked me to get my info before I converted the poor-conditioned cab into a 48-1 for resale. Here you go:

Model #:
TKG3-UP-US

Serial #:
02229

How many slots does the cabinet have for the speaker? 5,6,7?

How many carriage bolts are sticking through on the side of the cabinet? none, 2, more?
5

What board set? 2 board, 4 board?
4

Multi (7ish) wiring connectors or edge connector use?

What copyright is listed on the various artwork pieces?
Sideart Removed when I got it; Marquee, Instruction Card, and CPO all just say "Nintendo"; Bezel has no copyright info as far as I can tell.

Here it is below. When I got it, the boards were removed, the sideart was scraped off, there are cig burns all over the cp, some vinly is missing on the sides, bezel was turned around backwards for some unknown reason, and the marquee has a chunk missing out of the top left corner...poor Donkey Kong:

Re: Poor condition DK

Thanks for the cab info:

I'd be a player for the machine, if it is for sale, as is.
I would even be willing to drive down and pick it up.
I don't have one of that model and would very much like to restore it.

Thanks again

Re: Poor condition DK

Don't know if it will be available. I think I've got a deal going with Jscott for some of the parts that's been in the works for a few weeks now as I had this out in storage. I'll let you know if it doesn't pan out. sorry.

Re: Poor condition DK

Hey Murph, Maybe you could change the thread name to Blue and red cab Nintendos instead of specifying DK as sooo many DK's were converted, many may have what used to be a DK and not know it without checking the DATA plates. I know its a lot of Data, but man what a picture we would have of Nintendo production. Maybe evan nail down blocks of #'s converted at a time. Just a thought.

Re: Poor condition DK

I thought about that earlier. I think it's a great idea. Now if someone could tell me how to change the title of this post.

I started taking cocktail data also. 1 RS and 2 DK's on that list.

I noticed last night while working on my DK that there appeared to be a date code ink stamped into the piece of wood directly behind the monitor (facing the back door).

Mine said 820318, which I'm guessing is March 18, 1982. Sounds about right given my 50k ish serial number.

Granted, don't know if this is the cabinet mfg. date, or maybe a date stamped on the plank of wood they happened to use, or completely different number, or....etc etc.

It's a Japanese made cabinet. It'd be neat to check for this and include it in the data.

Got it. Interesting. Can you confirm your serial number. I had 150XXX in from a previous post and this one you say is 50XXX.

Anyone else out there with tag info to share?

Murph

Yeah, sorry my short term memory is bad. I meant that it seems like the "1" was another indicator, and that "50XXX" would've been the accurate "number built" (in reference to the date code post). It is a 150XXX though...I'll double check the actual digits and write it down

Murph I got your PM - been WAY busy sorry. PM me your email address so I can send you pics that should raise some questions.

PM sent.

The youngest cabinet I have is 160881. The oldest cabinet I have is (RS) B01520. If you have more info on the 165XXX can you share.

Thank, Murph:

About cabinet 165105, of course it is TKG4 ...and about what you would think it would be. It was harder to track down than my early red cabinet, I guess, because so many (look alike) blue ones were made. A distributor friend found it for me in Atlanta.

Keep up the good work!
