i just picked up a california speed and the force feedback is not working. the power was disconnected so i plugged it back in and it does not auto center it goes left and stays left. the power coming from the board to the motor reads 25v when metered. does it sound like a bad motor? any help would be great

Sounds more like a bad steering wheel pot. I had a solder point come loose on my Hard Drivin' and it did exactly the same thing. If the motor moved, then that's good. You could try recalibrating, but I'm almost certain it's the potentiometer.

the steering does work fine without the force feedback hooked up, do you think it could still be the potentiometer? i tried recalibrating it and it does the same thing

isnt there 2 pots? one for actual steering and one for FFB? not sure going off memory if its similar to FTS, I can look on mine tomorrow

I would try testing/replacing the op amps and transistors on your driver board that go to the motor. Your pot is most likely NOT the culprit in this situation.

ok i think i found the problem it looks like the power transister is bad. the part number is lm12clk its the one on the heatsink anyone know where to get one????? i googled it and came up empty

Post a pic, if it's a 3 pronged flat black style with a metal header you can find them at any radioshack. It's probably around 2 bucks.

yes it is a 3 pronge flat back with a metal header i just looked at specs and its says 80w transister.

i dont think the radio shack ones will not work as they only has two pronges on the back side as the one out of the board has 4

Google it again, i found several sites selling, that one is different than i was thinking in my head. Expensive sucker..70-80 bucks! Made by national semiconductor.

Shew, might be better off buying the whole driver board from feebay. I've seen them for around 30 or so.
