California Extreme Update!

If someone is looking to split a room, I'm not sure if I've found a roommate for that weekend yet or not. (There's been a couple of 'maybes.')

And if I already have and have forgotten, I can always bring some sleeping pads and crash on the floor / get 3 in the room. I'm more about saving money than sleeping comfortably.

The crowd to play pinball was deeper than trying to play an arcade game. Those heathens!
One thing I love about pinball is they're coming up with new stuff and all the pinball people trip over their tongues to play whatever the new stuff that is being presented which allows me to have some chance to get some elbow room in on the ancient games at shows. I mean I get it everyone who's an authorized retailer wants to sell the latest and greatest thing but like you say I say let people gravitate towards the new shiny toy and I'll play with the old one

Okay I decided I'm going to bring a little bit of everything some arcade parts, some console stuff and whatever in between. I am going to attach some pictures basically everything's going to be free to all the way up what you want to give me. Might bring some items that are priced depending on what I dig up. Just looking for some gas/frozen burrito money. Plus it's always fun buying, selling, trading parts and things. :) Again, nothing earth-shattering here but there may be some parts that people need for this or that.
There will be more than what is pictured. For anyone curious the tower is NOS from about 2002 from Fry's electronics. I also have like a 95% complete Sega title fight wire harness.

Milk crates full of wiring harnesses are always fun. Would have no idea what to offer, though. But interested for sure. You need any Easy CoinUps?

Was thinking of coming out to the show. Wondering if there's an easy way to get from the San Francisco Airport to the convention center without renting a car?

Thanks,
~Brad

Uber? Heh. Probably expensive as hell. You can get there from SFO by rail, but I don't remember how.
Or car pool with another show attendee. Or just bum a ride from a local. There are many people who live out on the peninsula.

Yes, there is a way to get there by public transportation. From SFO, take BART to Milbrae Station. Hop on to CalTrain and take it Southbound to Tamien station, then grab the light rail to the convention center. Not fast, but pretty much door to door.

If possible, try flying into the San Jose airport. It's much closer to the show venue and there's a bus line plus tram that can get you to the Santa Clara Convention Center for pretty cheap.

Website here says it's about 40 minutes and just $6.

And even if you go for a taxi or Uber from the SJ airport, it's probably still relatively reasonable.

Hope to see you there so I can thank you in person for the Inferno switches :) .

SJC is a great aiport, but is usually more expensive than flying into SFO, just because SFO is so much bigger, and has more options. (I've done both many times.)

Also, the train directions BombTheory gave will work. However FYI, it will probably be a 2-hour trip.

I don't know if it's still cheap, but one option I used to use from SFO is SuperShuttle. It's a shared ride van, so it can be slow, especially if you are the furthest one out (which you likely will be in this case). But it was a lot cheaper than Uber, and faster and more comfortable than BART.

Is Super Shuttle still in business? Wow. Yes, that's a great option.

And definitely SJC for CAX if you have the option. SFO is easier to schedule a flight, but Mineta is SOOOO much nicer to deal with.

Everytime I've attended CAX, I flew into SJC. From there, I took a free shuttle to the light rail, don't recall the station name offhand. Information Booth at the airport can tell you. Once at the light rail station, you take the train headed to the Great America station. It is right across from The Hyatt. Super cheap and reasonable on time. Don't try to ride for free. The Rail Cops are on them quite frequently.

SJC also has a curfew. it's 11:30p-6:30a so that limits the amount of flights as well. It got a major overhaul some years ago which made it so much easier to get in and out.

Oakland is also option and should have similar shuttle and train options

T-Shirts

We will have two designs this year. For a limited time, you can pre-order t-shirts and pick them up at the show to ensure you get the one that you want. The deadline for pre-ordering is July 7th at 5 PM PDT. Details are posted on the t-shirts page.

We will also have a limited number for sale at the show. They will also be available on-line soon for mail delivery after the show.

Parking

This year there is no Levi's event scheduled on the same days as our show, so getting to the show will be way easier!

There is another event scheduled inside the convention center, so parking in the garage behind the hotel may be busy, but there is other nearby free parking.

Parking - Free parking is available in the Santa Clara Convention Center garage on the second and third floors. Enter from Great America Pwky at Bunker Hill Ln. Follow the signage when you arrive. The ground floor of the garage and the parking spaces in the hotel lots outside are reserved for hotel guests for a fee. Another option is the Yellow Lot 1 garage on Tasman Dr across from Levi's Stadium. There also is free street parking across Great America Parkway in the business park.

Rideshare / Drop-Off - The closest location to our ticket booths and main show hall is in front of the Convention Center entrance on Tasman Drive. Separately, another good alternative is at the Hyatt lobby entrance.

VTA Light Rail - The Great America Light Rail Station is right in front of the Santa Clara
Convention Center and is an easy walk across the street.

See the website for more information.

Games

There's still time to register to bring games! We can always use more, and of course you will still be entitled to discounts and/or free passes for doing so (depending on how many you can bring). Details are on the exhibitor webpage.

Vendors
We have a great lineup of vendors this year at the show. Click here to see the list!

Raffle

There will be a raffle again this year. The grand prize is planned to be a Stern King Kong Pro pinball machine! There will be various other fun prizes you can win. Tickets will be available at the show. More information here.

More updates as they happen on our website – see you at the show!

No Caltrain service to Tamien currently while the bridges between Diridon and Tamien are replaced. ETA is something like 8 months.

However, it's way faster to take Caltrain to Mountain View and get on VTA light rail Orange Line there. Orange Line runs directly to Great America station - right in front of CAX.

Free Airport Flyer (formerly VTA Route 10) was discontinued a few years ago and combined into Route 60. At one point it was still free if you were boarding at the airport, but I believe they have discontinued that. Route 60 runs to Metro/Airport light rail same as Route 10 did. From there you take Green Line light rail up to Great America station.
