California Extreme 2024!!!

Yeah, I was kinda wondering if there's a place where attendees post games they'd potentially like to buy or sell at the event ?
Yes, there are always games that will be for sale at the show, and many do change hands.

Each exhibitor gets a label for his/her game on which the owner can post if the game is indeed for sale, price, and contact information.

There's also a board at the entrance area that for posting games for sale.

everything is for sale. its just a matter of how much...

but if your game is in working condition and if you willing to leave it until sunday evening, you can place it in the show (if their is room on the floor). If its something cool, they will make room for it. if its the 6th pacman, then probably not.. If its zaxxon, there is always room by the compactor.. maybe it will accidentally fall in and there will be much rejoycing!!

run it by jonathan. he will let you know if they need it and if the show will have room for it.

Booked and excited as always! 🤘 🤘:D

Ok get ready to get the party started! I didn't know much about this event but Gibby texted and asked if I was going. I came here and searched for threads and found this one and saw Del and Jawhn seemed to be going so I've registered, booked flights, and staying at the spillover hotel. Bringing the wife with me this time. You may not recognize me. If you remember at ZapCon I was saying I was going to hire a nutrition coach. Well I did. The day after ZapCon I was 280 lbs. I'm 240 lbs now and on track for about 225 lbs by the time this event starts. Been going alcohol free except for special events so this one qualifies.

Now..now...Zaxxon has its place at the show. In fact, it looks like we'll have a cocktail version on hand this time!

Also, multiples of some games are often quite welcome...certainly PacMan qualifies in that respect. A couple of years back, we had some unusual multiples such as two I, Robots and two upright Star Treks. I also remember one time having something like 10 Star Wars uprights, and they were all being played at various times throughout the show. Heck, there was even one year that we had two Zektors on hand :D .

As mrbill says, LMK what you might want to bring, and I'll respond to let 'ya know if we can use it (with the most likely answer being a resounding "yes").

Flight & hotel booked. Now, to see what Santa Clara has to offer the week while we are there.
Santa Clara has Great America (like six flags) and Levi stadium. Great America had awesome arcades in the past but I haven't been there in years.

San Jose is right next door and San Francisco is 40 miles north.

In downtown San Jose there is a barcade called mini boss.

A new pinball spot just opened a few months back called Game on just outside downtown. Right next door to that is Hapas brewery and both look the other way when you bring beverages over. Not too far is some adult entertainment but they don't take quarters

Zaxxon might actually be easier to play in the cocktail format. I would like to try.

I'm the one bringing the Zaxxon cocktail and yes, I can say having played both, the cocktail version is far superior. I've lamented on this forum many times that I don't think Zaxxon would have got as much hate if it had shipped with a normal joystick instead of the flightstick. It just doesn't work with the 3/4 perspective! At least for me... My brain can't grok the disconnect between the flightstick facing forward and the ship facing diagonally upward.

Oh nice, I only attended once many years ago in '98 and it was spectacular. I can't imagine how big it must be now 26 years later. My hats off to you local CA folks who take the time to pack up and buggy those games to bring them there.
Hopefully I can plan properly plan and make it there again in the next year or two. Looking forward in a month when you guys post some pictures of the show, machines and members' faces.

Hector, are you and Syl going this year? Seems like it's been ages.

In as usual. I think this is my... 15th year?

As an aside, if anyone driving to the show has any pachinko or pachislo machines they may consider selling, please let me know. Totally unrelated to the show floor but I know a lot of arcade people acquire them and they're an easy tag-along if you're bringing cabs (or have an empty seat). I pay cash and can pick up from the Hyatt or locally pretty much any time before the show. Send me a PM.

Going for the first time this year, super psyched! Will there be any game tournaments?

Check the ca extreme website.

But there are always pinball tournaments. I think 3 skill level leagues.

They have done cyberball and street fighter tournaments in the past. Don't know if they will this year

In almost exactly one month (a few hours from now) I'll be boarding a jet to get there!!!
