California Extreme 2024!!!

Unless you know the owner, you should not go inside someone's game. Most games have phone numbers on them. Call or text or report it to the front desk.

Personally if I see a game smoking or monitor wigging out, I shut the game off and try to contact the owner with what I saw.

As for people hogging a game, if it's a kid, i probably would let it go. If it was an adult, i would say something like share or give others a chance.

shutting the game off on them is a dick move. Might as well spit on them to get their attention.
I would shut off anything smoking or potentially hazardous. Agreed there. I almost shut off a turtles because of the obnoxious sound it was making. wasn't dangerous though so I just walked away

I didn't come across anybody hogging games. Little kids obviously don't know etiquette but most had their parents next to them to teach them. If not I just made myself known and they figure it out.

I don't think anybody mentioned shutting a game off on somebody while they are playing. I would walk up to a game with 50+ credits already in it and nobody playing. There is no way to go back to level 1 without shutting it off and back on or letting the characters die which could take hours.

I did see a few games with the coin doors open though.

Atari Pinball Reunion
The Gottlieb Jet Spin was included because it was in the pinball engineering group for them to use and and study. Also it is a perfect theme match for Pipeline. And it is just so pretty and fun to play.
Pipeline made its first public appearance at CAX 2024 after an extensive effort to recreate it from parts collected over 25 years.
This Pipeline is powered by the "New Hardware" prototype of the Superman board set. Cabinet is from a Time 2000. Lower cabinet stencils made from Atari "Pipeline Cabinet Art" drawings found in Atari archives.
To Pipeline's right is Space Riders, which is what Pipeline became after Atari marketing said they wanted a Star Wars/Sci Fi theme (1978)
Then:
Airborne Avenger
Time 2000
Middle Earth
Atarians
Superman
MicroPin (not Atari but we thought it would pair up nicely with the next pinball on this list)
Hercules
Road Runner
Alien Space
Neutron Star
4x4

I just realized the name on the last pic should be JS-PL-SR-b

All the games seemed to get pretty constant play, especially Hercules.

Updated pic, please lemme know if I've mistyped or wrongly capitalized or added/removed a space from your handle, I'm just going off of my (horrid) memory.

Anyone know who the 2 fine gentleman are at far right? I may have seen them hanging around with @kalan, but not sure.

EDIT: See reply #274 for updated pic:

I still vote all KLOV members need to print a t-shirt with their Avatar like this:

I do have my avatar on my shirt, fairly large, too. Hope it helped a little...

Shit. I only just now noticed that Carrie and Jimbo are rotated a bit. Whoops. And hovering a little. Photoshopping them in there was a bit trickier than I initially expected...

Dale, amazing work. I wanted to attend the panel, but the soccer game messed that up.

What kind of DK cab was this? It was the perfect size and the quality felt great. Custom? I really liked the plexi top piece that let you see the PCB
Yes, custom minis that were made a few years ago. I think there were 4 or 6 of them that would show up in past years.

'Twas indeed another fun show. The Atari pins were quite a sight to see. The line to play Hercules was constant! And of course debuting Pipeline was highlight.

I also really enjoyed the Exidy Crash upright...wish I had room for that one as it was fun!

And the Asteroids Recharged was pretty fun as was Avian Knights. I thought both were fine updates to the classics that inspired each one, and the developers are working on further improving the gameplay for both which will make them even better :) .

Thanks to everyone who attended and especially to any and all who made the extra effort to bring games and/or help out. It is appreciated and then some! Seriously, there would be no show without the latter folks. It's you guys that make it special and worth the effort and sacrifices that the staff toil through not only during the show itself but for several months prior to make it all happen.

Until next year!

Jonathan
