I have a Cadash board I believe was shorted out via were the Monitor runs into the board (monitor blew and the board didn't work right since). Now the game works fine except that none of the colors seem to work except for maybe the blue since it looks dark blue. Anyone no anyway to fix this or is it junk? Picture below, like I said gameplay and sound work great just no color really.
Thanks,
Kane

I sure hope so. I just bought one that has the same issue as yours, the one I bought is all red and a bit blury.

That doesnt look like a Cadash board running.

With Cadash (and all Taito boards of that era) the most likely cause for missing colours or missing video is the very fragile TC007RGB SIP package, which on Cadash is towards the back of the board. Often these SIPs are knocked clean off the board and they snap off so cleanly that it is hard to see anything missing at all. If you are missing colours then the chances are it has fractured pins. I repaired a Rainbow Islands board with a colour fault caused by this SIP...

...and have seen many boards with it completely missing.

First place you should look!

The board in the auction above has other issues beside this tho - the communication error is because the DIP switch is set to (dual mode) whereby two cabinets were connected by a serial cable to give 4 player simultaneous play.

I am bidding on a Taito ARKANOID that has that chip missing how hard are them chips to get and is there still a source for them.

edit:
That is what I was thinking with the dip switch and I am trying to get a dedicated cab. built for just that. Having 4 players at a time with one big monitor.

They are a Taito custom so only source is scrap boards, or from arcade part suppliers, who also get them off scrap boards. Tho often the reason boards were scrapped is because they are missing that part.

Not so good news...Thaks for the info...

Thats a bootleg board, unlikely it would have used a Taito SIP package, tho there is space for a SIP so perhaps they reversed engineered that too.

I have a good parts bin and parts board stack that might have that custom if someone needs it.

I'll put that in with my next order. I will also need another galaga kit and a super pac man kit if you have em. I also need some scope leads for my Heath kit.

No parts are missing on the board, because the game worked fine until it was it with that shock. Just trying to figure out what on the board could of went out so to say that would cause this.

at the top of this post is the part number of the chip that usually is the cause of this issue
TC007RGB towards the back of the board.

Did Womble say they are very FRAIL. Moving them is not a valid option as they wll break off the board.

I'm guessing you are talking about this chip in the picture? No broken legs either, I'm at a lost. anyway to check if its bad?

Get up close with a magnifying glass and look for hairline cracks where the pins bend into the board.

That is a custom chip and yes that is the one. I don't really know of any good way to test that chip other than what Womble has said.

I can't see any cracks, I guess the sure way to know is to remove it off the board... pain. :(

Yes but it is very fragile, if you do not have a desolder station it is likely you will actually break pins yourself. Also when it is off the board you will have no video at all.

I would leave that SIP well alone, if you cant see signs of damage then it is either not the problem, or it is faulty. Basically you need to back track from that SIP with a scope to see what is active.

Ok, thanks. Maybe I can find someone to trade and pay a little extra for a working board with no problems.

Did you see what I bought mine for NOT FULLY Working? Then you have the working boards on e-bay going for about $150. That part is not too hard to replace, it is getting harder to find. That is also a RARE board so I would try to get it fixed, and keep it. It is also one of the games that you can link to another cadash game to have 4 players at once.
