I have the chance to get a Gauntlet and/or Missile Command cabinet and I'm curious what the consensus is for their value. Here are the details that I have:

Gauntlet: Converted to NBA Jam. Cabinet is solid and in overall great shape. I would be acquiring it nearly bare (monitor only, and JAMMAfied).

Missile Command: Converted to P.O.W. Cabinet is also solid and in great shape. CP was totally replaced, as was the marquee. Also would be nearly bare (again, Monitor and rewired to JAMMA).

Thoughts? $20-30 per cab tops was my overall impression. I intend to restore them to their original condition. So lots of parts/wiring to be done.

the missile command sounds like a total loss. If the gauntlet still has the metal marquee, double coin doors, definately worth 50.00

depending on how nice you want your games, restoring either one can get expensive..even if your initial cost is low...add the time involved, and its probably better to hold out for a nicer condition machine even if the initial pricetag is more.

buy neither.. Find one thats not converted. You will save money in the long run...

But if you like to blow money, get the missle command. its a better game.

Your friends and family will like gauntlet. But the reality is, gauntlet gets old fast as there is no end and its no fun when you can keep adding credits and keep going. I have have sold the same gauntlet machine 3 times. twice it came back to me as the guys wanted to trade it for anything else..

As for what they are worth, both are about the same. $350-$650 should get you one.

From a restoring perspective, I think it would cost you +$200 - $300 more to restore a gauntlet over what it will cost to restore missile command. Atari logo sticks are not cheap and not easy to find. Missile command has fewer graphics to deal with and it easier to find an audio reg 2 vs an audio reg 3. Plus the wiring is about 3x harder to build for gauntlet.

My struggle is I know the fate of both these cabs will eventually be the dumpster. Not overnight, but within the year.

The collector in me fears for the destruction of them LOL
