Hey all,

With the help of this site I have stripped down my pole position cab of its side art. I was still looking for a little advice on prep before I put on the new side art. I noticed that the particle board under the original art is already coated with some clear coat. I was thinking I would fill in the holes with bondo and then sand the whole thing down. Looking for a grit reccomendation. I was then going to prime the side by rolling it on. Is there anything else I need to do before putting on the new side art? Also the front of the cabinet on the bottom around the coin doors and speaker has some kind of laminate on it. Will it work to just paint over this with a semi gloss black paint? Thanks for any info.

I would use a magic erase or adhesive remover to take off any residue.. I think it all depends on how smooth the wood underneath is. Otherwise, what I did, and it works great.. Fill in all your bondo... sand that with 220.. then prime, sand with 220, prime again, and sand with 220, then 320.. then you are set to paint.

Its best to get a new pcs of laminate for the front of your game. you can paint over it but it does not hole up real well. it scratches really easy.
as for the sides after priming. make sure to sand in between coats of finish.
220 / 400/ 1200. has worked well for me.
any little imperfection. you will be able to see through the side sticker with out good prep.
