Just picked up a cabinet that is missing the light fixture for the marquee so I thought i would ask for some opinions for a replacement. I have an old light fixture from a pacman cabinet that I could use or I have a newer style fluorescent light fixture that I pulled from another cabinet I had, should I stick with the old school pac light fixture that uses standard regular light bulbs or the newer fluorescent light fixture? I know at the end of the day it won't make much of a difference since no one can see the lighting behind the marquee, but I am kinda torn between old school and new.

Dittio to Sunoo.
I cut a long piece of white drafting paper towards the front of the light and curled the excess underneath it to prevent the marquee from color fading.
Seems to work fairly well and doesn't affect the lighting of the marquee.

Never thought of the heat given off by the old school light bulbs, thanks for mentioning it Sunoo. I think I will go with fluorescent light fixture, thanks to all for your thoughts :)

I prefer the fluorescent bulbs myself. I can't tell you how many cabs I got during the late 90's that had burnt marquees from regular house light fixtures in them.

Whenever I get a cab with the incandescents or no light at all I just go to Walmart and buy one of their cheap $6 fluorescent fixtures. Most of the time I just cut off the plug and splice it into where the original fixture was powered. If you have a cabinet with a service outlet in it you could just plug it in there.

They do the job and are cheap enough where if it breaks you can just but another one cheaper than replacing the bulb in the regular fixtures.
