Picked up two sweet cabarets from KLOVer SkippyJoe777 this afternoon. First is Asteroids. I fell in love with this cabinet at the Seattle Gameroom show last year, and have been looking for one since:

It's got a non-original (but awesome) owl eye coin door:

The control panel is nice up top, but a previous owner hacked the hinged bottom off. If anyone's selling one of these, shoot me a PM.

The second is a Donkey Kong / DKJr / Mario Bros 3-in-1 cabaret. I didn't see much info on these cabarets, and I see it's on Todd Tuckey's need a photo list. It's pretty large for a cabaret, but quite a cool cabinet.

This is actually just a photo of a coin door. They made commercial and home version of these, and this is a home use version.

Oh why oh why would they shape it like a Galaga?

Asteroids looks great. The Mario Kong is an unfortunate design but looks minty fresh!

Nice pick-up. That Asteroids looks to be in real nice shape to boot. GorfChampion has my old one in his arcade now. Does that DK cabaret have the larger monitor in it? (bigger than the a 19")

Cool man. I am looking at an Asteroids cabaret. I hear they are rare.

Here's one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Name-that-T...aultDomain_0&hash=item4d002c154f#ht_500wt_912

Probably to save costs, since the Ms. Pac / Galaga cabs are the same shape. It's very nice, I'm the 4th owner and it's HUO. And it's got a nice 19" monitor in there.

Nice!! I've been collecting for a short time now and I have been wanting my next pick up to be a cabaret!! And you grabbed two...Conrats.

It's a 19" Wells-Gardner. Pretty neat one, too, it has a wired remote board and OSD for everything except the screen/focus which are the standard knobs on the flyback.

I've played a few of the MsPac/Galaga Reunion cabs, and I found the gigantic monitors very weird to play on. I had a hard time taking in the whole screen at once. Then again, I am used to playing these games on the 13" cabaret monitors, so that probably has something to do with it.

They're great. Most of my games are cabarets. I have to really want a game to go for the upright.

I want that asteroids. But I really want a missile command cabaret the most!!!
I love missile command and to have it in cabaret would be awesome!!!
NICE GRAB!!

Very nice grabs. You got a rare one indeed with the Asteroids. Like Yoda said, I just picked up his old one. Yours looks to be in much nicer shape. And you have the owl eye coin door to boot; nice. They are much better coin doors IMO. What's the serial # on it? Congrats on getting the games!

Isn't Donkey Kong and Junior vertical and Mario Bros landscape? How do they make that work? Does Mario Bros have some huge letterboxes?

The tag is missing from the back. I haven't dug around inside to see if it's somewhere else.

Joe said it was pretty rough when he got it; he repainted it, put new laminate on the sides, and installed new T-molding, plus probably lots more that I don't know about. #1 issue is that the guy who had it before him hacked the control panel. Said he wanted to swap the board, CP, and marquee, so it could play Asteroids and AD. So he took off the CP, took it to a machine shop, and had them chop the bottom off. Such a waste.

I've come across two or three MC Cabarets in the last six months, but I passed on them because I just don't like MC that much.

I'm not sure what they did specifically, but it runs vertically now. All the 3-in-1 DK/Jr/MB games do this.

Considering that is one of Atari's lowest production cabaret models. I've only seen two in-person my entire life and one of the two was in a Showbiz Pizza BITD....

Well, shit, man. Figure out shipping and I'll get you one.

Nicely done! I'm especially a fan of the Asteroids with the owl eye coin door. That coin door gives the Asteroids cabinet an extra bit of personality.

I also like that it hearkens back to Lunar Lander. I would've picked that one up too!
