Does anybody know of a CRT to LCD conversion kit for the Midway cabaret cabinet? It's a 13 inch raster, and I know they make a 19 inch LCD conversion kit for the full size cabinet, but have yet to see one for the cabaret model.

I have a original cabaret Pac-man, and although the CRT is holding up well, it's 30-something years old and I want to know what my options are in case it blows.

Alternatively, if anyone know where they are selling 13" CRTs for the cabaret model, that'd be cool too!

If it blows, you should fix it. Or send it off to be fixed. Cheaper than an LCD and also looks 4 million times better

You would hardly ever need a new CRT. At most you might need the monitor chassis rebuilt, or buy a replacement working chassis.

Easily done by asking here :)

Amen to that.

I only ask about the LCD because you can't find the 13 inch monitors anymore. Plus, I know nothing about monitor repair, so I'd be screwed if the thing went kaput. It has scared me a couple of times (flickers occasionally like it's going to die, and sometimes the sprites look slightly garbled after being left on for a while) but it always seems to come back strong as ever after shutting it off for an hour... The flickering/garbling hasn't happened in a while and the times it does happen are few and far between. For a 30 something year old TV, it's really hanging in there.

But I'm preparing for the day when it does die. So as that I'm not left with a giant light-up press board box in my basement that collects dust and draws the ire of my wife.

Well... I'll need as much help as possible because I have ZERO knowledge of how to fix these things. And I'll have to do it when the house is empty because there will be lots of creative uses of cuss words during the process...

One thing I make sure to do is keep the brightness down and I also employ the use Mike Doyle's 96-1 built in screen saver. Just curious though... how hard is it to burn these things in? I'm petrified of burn in.

BTW, that new Multipac from Highscoresaves looks SO tempting, but I wish it had a screen saver :( I'm afraid I'll roast my monitor...

Replacement 13" chassis are out there and unless your chassis is totally destroyed, then your chassis is repairable by plenty of people.

Burn in happened when the games were left on all day every day for years in the 80s. In a home situation, the CRTs are going to get that burn so slowly that it's not worth worrying about. As long as it's unplugged when not in use, it won't get any burn in.

Don't let that keep you from buying the Multi Pac kit

Anyone have a UK 13" (14" in US so I've been told as US measure them differently, apparently?) Wells Gardner K4906 for an Midway Cabaret Pacman - working

If the neck is broken off at the end of the tube then is it definitely non repairable then??
Where does the OP say the monitor neck is busted?

"although the CRT is holding up well, it's 30-something years old and I want to know what my options are in case it blows."

Clearly, if the neck is broken, then the tube is not repairable, but the chassis still is.
