Ok, I've had enough working in the arcade today and instead I will PLAY a game. I fired up the AD, started playing and then watched the screen get darker and darker and then go black. Then, I came over here to type this, and VOILA! it's back bright!

Should I DO something or just keep playing until it stays dark...

Do a capkit, they're easy on those and only have a few caps. Also there's a mod you're supposed to do for a couple huge reistors on the board. R101 or 201 or something like that, it's the two big huge resistors at the top of the deflection board. Atari said to replace them with jumpers since the resistors burn up... and make the screen go black.

Awesome.
Thanks!

This is really the great side of this forum. Everyone is smart and helpful and no one writes crazy threatening pm's and rants like that one in the FS side right now....

I really appreciate your and everyone's help on my numerous topics.

I was going to make a new thread, until I saw this one. I had the same thing going on w/ my AD cabaret. A friend of mine replaced the HV diode, and fixed the game as it eventually played blind. It worked for only a few days, then went blind again. A cap kit and said mods may be in order for mine.

Let us know if your monitor problem is fixed.

Is the spotkiller coming on? Pop the back off and take a look at the spotkiller LED the next time this happens to see if that's the case. I had one with bad caps in the SK circuit where the image would fade as the number of things drawn decreased. When it started happening, you could see the spotkiller flickering on and off. If you see something similar, your SK circuit has a fault.
