Can anyone tell me what this cab was from?

It looks like a Space Ace or Thayer's Quest, but with the wrong marquee shape...

It had what looked like 4 rubber shock mounts in the bottom of the cab, but I don't have a pic of the inside.

Looks like this Space Ace cabinet on KLOV. It looks like a Dragon's Lair, but different than the Dragon's Lair flyer. Not sure if the flyer was just a prototype or why it is different, but the angles, CP, etc look right. The marquees often got replaced when they stuck a kit in so that they could use the kit marque.

Oh, I can see the speakers in the right location on that thing too. Certainly looks like a Cinematronics cabinet with the marquee cut off. So I say converted Dragon's Lair.

I would agree cut marquee cinematronics cab. look at the back for laser disk drawer and if the DL/SA score board covered over above the marquee.

Thanks guys,

It's in storage and I need to sell it. I'm getting out of storage ASAP.

For now... off to bed. It's midnight here.

That's almost certainly a converted Dragon's Lair. Keep in mind the Space Aces in this cabinet were field conversations as the dedicated Space Ace cabinets have a different shape, including the marquee area. The other things suggested in this thread are also good ways of identifying the cabinet. Further, it may still have the factory DL sticker on the back showing the model #, which starts with DL, and serial #.

The marquee being cut flat was typical for DL conversions (my buddy has two cabinets like that).

The first dedicated run of Space Ace machines were in DL style cabinets, so it very well could have been a Space Ace or Dragon's Lair.

I'm not far from you Channelmanic. How much do you want for it?

Did this affect the cab or just the marquee?
Being cut flat has zero affect on the cabinet as that wood just sticks out the front and is not structural.

BTW, Shaun is right. I forgot about the first SAs did use leftover DL cabinets.

$100

It's been in storage for years... don't think it has a back door and I've never powered it on. It has Irem Skins Golf in it.

Thanks everyone!

The cab is now at a new home and will be restored to its former glory as a laserdisc video game!

It had the speakers, original monitor, and original power supply in it and I asked Shaun to post pics as it gets restored. :)

I also offered up the use of my table saw if he needed, but he lives far on the other side of the Dallas Metromess from me.

Thanks Channelmanic!
The machine mad it home A-OK.
Also, thanks for trucking it out to my truck for me. :)

The Serial # plate had been painted over, but a bit of alcohol and a little elbo grease cleaned it right off... LD 07922

So this was originally a Dragon's Lair running on an LD-V1000.
However, the control panel had holes for the Space Ace skill selection, so it got converted, at least twice.

The three sided marquee got cut off, but the biggest issue is the front of the cabinet. The wood holding the coin door was completely broken, and covered over with a plywood bandage. Time to buy a table saw.

A great and worthy restoration. Good luck, Shaun!

Shaun, what monitor did it come with, a G07 or K490x? Just curious as I've seen both. Was the NTSC board still there? If it was a G07 and the chassis is original, as you know it will have that extra wire for the NTSC board.

Somewhere I may still have some NTSC to RGB converters... not sure where they are buried.

Hey, it was great meeting you today! I took a couple of Tylenol and will hopefully not be too twisted up in the morning. :)

Glad it's going to a good home where it will one day be returned to its former glory. That's far more than I would've done with the cabinet.

Scott, It has the Wells Gardner 19K4291, Which I believe has a superior picture to the G07. Unfortunately, it has some severe burn-in from its time as a non-lasergame. I haven't powered it on yet, but I'm hoping that it still looks good with the movie animation.

No, the NTSC board was missing. Ray, if you've got the original NTSC board lying around, I'd sure like to get that from you.

As for the extra wires to power the NTSC board, I've looked closely at the chassis, and they are strangely missing. I'm certain this is the factory original monitor, so this confuses me. Fortunately, I have the exact model monitor on my workbench, so it will be easy to figure out.

Channelmanic (Ray), thanks again, And I hope you didn't really need any Tylenol. :)

I had 3 of them in a box somewhere... will see if I can find them.

Congrats! What do you need a table saw for? I thought I needed one until I learned how to cut what I needed off of 4x8 sheets with a circular saw, a 2x4 and some clamps.
