Anyone knows what this was originally? It's got a Double-Dragon 3 in it right now.

Thanks,

it's called an "Angled Cab"
It was built by the angled cab company. I have a generic manual for this which needs to be scanned.

They mostly were red. I'm thinking that this was painted.

I used one to build a 2 slot neo geo.

I like them. They typically had K7000 25" monitors. They have a removable "all in one" control panel, Harness and PS assembly. The CP is easy to rebuild if you want to change yours around since they were wooden inserts into the CP assembly.

They are in many ways as usefull as a Z-back but actually predate the Z-back machines by 3KOAM and Dynamo. The monitor can be rotated also... (lot of work to do so)

I have 3 and have only restored 1 to be working. I actually like them and think that they are good to use if you like to flip your games around often in a Dynamo style cab. They are ugly from the side but the tops are flat and good for storing stuff. Sort of how people stick stuff on top of their nintendo cabs.

A while ago we had a nice discussion about this cab here.

Too bad, I was hoping it was originally something interesting. From the description he gave over the phone I thought it was a Z-back, I could make use of one of those.

I was a little disappointed when I walked in and saw it, but I ended up getting it for free and it works, so I can't complain.

Thanks for the info. If I can put a larger monitor in it and rotate it then it will work for what I need right now.

Keep it and configure the CP into something you can use often for many boards.
Trust me, it's a good cab!

I'm 5'11" and I find that the CP height is a little more comfortable than my standard MVS4-25 machines. Even though it's generic, it's a good cab.

It sure does beat looking around for a new corner cut CP that hasn't been drilled to hell. Jon did a nice restoration of the CP in the thread that I pointed to.

In this warehouse raid last year in Freso CA, there were at least a dozen of these and they all had 25" monitors. Mostly K7000 ones at that.

I'm looking for something to put a Street Fighter into. The fighting games were a little after the time when I was in the arcades, but I'm looking for one of each type to have in the game room.

I think I've got most of the other types covered (MKII, Virtua Fighter, Tekken II).

Any idea on what is considered one of the better SF II's from early in the series?

You probably want SF2 HF.

The control panel can be built for any game you want. VF2 isn't JAMMA so it's not very feasible to have rotating in the cab. If you a fan of each of these games then you probably can have one control panel built for each game. Capcom 6 games would all use the same control panel.

If you are a little handy you can build control panel inserts for any special button configured games like SF, and MK. All other games can make use of the Capcom layout. I would also consider a Neo Geo board to add to the collection. There is one drill patter than works well with Neo Geo, SF2 and Tekken.

This Japanese layout can be plugged if you want a button layout that works for a few different setups.

Basically if you wanted to make this a neo geo all you'd have to do is run plugs in the grey buttons shown.

VF Remix can be found on Sega STV which is JAMMA however.
