Hi,
I'm installing cap kit on Nanao MS9-29S. C411 is a 2.2uf/50v cap. Silkscreen on PCB shows 2 straight lines, i.e. non-electrolytic. Existing capacitor doesn't seem to have negative stripe down the side, but shape of cap looks like electrolytic. Cap kit came with a electrolytic, but I have no idea how to install or even if I should as every other cap on this chassis had + clearly marked on both sides of the PCB and had curved line silkscreened on the pcb to denote negative. Does someone know what type of cap should be installed here?

Also the cap kit I got had 220uf/100v for C951, but removed was 180uf/100v. Should I find the exact replacement rather than use the 220uf?

thanks

The cap with no stripe was non-polar, and should be replaced with a non-polar. If you don't have one, put the old one back in as they don't fail often.

As for the other, use the 220. The difference is okay for that circuit...

thanks Modessitt

That's what I did. We lost power due to storm, so going to test when we get power back. Hopefully the cap kit fixes vertical line.

If I remember, there is a vertical IC that sometimes gets cold solder joints, or may need to be replaced.

Although you may mean vertical in a horizontal mount, which would be a horizontal collapse, and is usually caused by cold solder or broken trace somewhere...
