I have an R-type (which is a jamma pinout) and the sound stopped working after doing a cap kit. The sound runs through the Sharp monitor. I have tried to track down the issue but am not getting anywhere.

My question is that since its a jamma pinout, can I modify the R-type pcb and wiring or put in a 19 in 1 (don't flame) to make it work? Could I run the wires from the harness directly to the speakers? I guess I'm not clear as to why you would want the sound running through the monitor. Is it an unrealistic idea?

Thanks for the help.

Most if not all Nintendo board have a preamp level sound output that requires an amplifier to run the speaker. The Sanyo's and Sharps have an amplifier on the chassis for this. I suppose it's possible to get a different small amp to make it work like out of some powered computer speakers. If you run a 19-1 in there, that board has an amp built in and you would run the speaker output directly to the speaker. - Barry
