Before I go getting mad I want to ask the opinion of the masses.

Lets say you buy a PCB listed as "working-No ROM's" would you expect to receive a board missing every single socket chip including the CPU(s), as in stripped clean ?

Never mind part of the board is broken and not stated, just curious what you would think ?

I'll tell you what I was thinking when I read it (bought it), I was thinking add ROM's and play, not buy CPU's and replace broken parts and play.

Mind you I've been offered another PCB because of the broken part, not the missing part(s). but...Now I have to take time and money out to ship something back when I could repair it for about the same or less money and forgo the hassle, however I still have to buy the CPU's that have been removed.

I'm a reasonable man, tell me what you think.

I feel your pain the last 2 "Working Boards" I got here did not work!!! I buy alot of stuff here, most of its great. But when Im thinking about boards here now. I ask if it is guaranteed. I just cant afford to keep fixing what is advertised working.

Working - NO ROMS to me means the board is complete minus ROMS. Drop ROMs and and go. Anything else is "other" than "working - NO ROMS" and you should demand your dough back. In light of the fact the current board is also broken, I'd demand the seller either (A) gives full refund and the board gets shit canned or (B) gives full refund and pays for the board to be returned. Anything else is BS from my perspective.

WTF is up with certain sellers failure at full disclosure around here as of late? We have one seller misrepresenting products as something they are not and then is willing to take a hit on his reputation over thirteen freakin' bucks. We have other sellers shipping out items that are so damaged that light shines right through the cracks but fails to mention said cracks prior to selling. Misrepresentations from here... outright lies from there... WTF people? This is supposed to be a community of FRIENDS... this is too small of a group to screw people over like that. It's bullshit frankly.

I have yet to have a SINGLE person come back to me and say I misrepresented what I had for sale. Not once. And if someone did (or does in the future)... i will guarantee that I will do what ever is necessary to make it right. I try to be as honest and forthright about what I have to sell and god damned it, I expect anyone I buy from to do the same.

My first question would have been, if it's 100% working then why were the ROMs pulled? Then I would've asked to see pictures.

Well something similiar happened to me and the general concensus was that it was my fault for not asking/seeing pictures. So the same rule should apply to you. It's your fault for trusting someone else knows what they're talking about. :D

I am very meticulous about describing boards and any issues they have or don't have. And whether I have tested them or not. I have had exactly one issue with a board that I sold to someone on RGVAC several years ago. He claimed that it didn't work when he got it. I refunded his money and paid $10 to offset shipping. When I got the board back, not only was it stripped, it wasn't even the same board. His email address started bouncing when I tried to question him about it. The wierd thing was that when I repopulated the board (some ROMs & a CPU) it worked fine. ?????

On the other hand, I have several board sellers on EBay that I will not do business with again because of deceptive practices. Poor descriptions, fuzzy photos or outright shipping something other than what was in the ad.

This just happens to be a board that the ROM's get swapped in for other games (VS) so no ROM's didn't bother me.

Had I asked fir pics the CPU issue would have been taken care of but the damaged part would have gone un noticed probably.

While I've had some time to cool down I'm still less than thrilled about how it was stated and when I asked about the CPU situation he made it sound like I should have known which really pissed me off because there was no way I could have because it wasn't disclosed.

If he is not going to fix the situation. I would send the board back ask for a full refund. and be done with him forever. Yes you will be out the shipping, but it would save a total screw over!!! If you paid with paypal file a claim. :( Make sure you get a tracking number!!

Yeah but when it does work out, it can balance you out overall. Isn't that right Mr. working 100% 720 because I took a chance on untested boards? ;)

This is true sometimes! But overall, PCB's have put me big time in the hole. With the 720, I can probably make another working set out of the 2 "almost" working sets I have. At that point I will sell the rest for scraps. Gotta keep a working set as a spare for a game like 720! :)

My main issue here is I have no clue if the board really works because he jacked the damn CPU's. I would also have to replace the broken PPU socket.

It all leaves a bad taste in my mouth, this member has been on the board a lot longer than me too.

Try to work it out with the seller. Most people here are reasonable. To me a working Vs board without the roms, means you can open the box install you working rom set then install in you machine and begin playing. Anything more is either a misunderstanding or false advertisement.

Go back to the seller and try to work it out. I find it better when these things can be worked out behind the curtian.

I'm not wasting my time with this anymore, lesson learned.. its bullshit and he knows it.

missing parts should have been a red flag.. why would they pull chips unless they needed them for another board... why would you take chips off of a working board? see what im getting at..

Yes its bs that it ended up not as stated, thats thew sellers fault..

but buying a board missing parts and expecting it to work properly doesent seem realistic....

just my 2 cents, not trying to offend the o.p. just stating my opinion man...

It wasn't listed as missing parts, it was listed as NO ROM's. it's a VS board, they are intended to be ROM swap boards so you can play multiple games on them.

They should have CPU's (if) they are listed as working boards so that when you put your OWN ROM's in the boards work, like the ad said, WORKING..

Hopefully that clears up any confusion in the matter on my part.

i see... still be on the sellers part like i said... but damn man anytime ive gotten anything with chips missing the boards also been junk...

but havent messed with ninty stuff so i guess a need to shaddup heh

Just to play devil's advocate, I think the seller probably just doesn't know what the fuck he's doing.

There's room for two cpu's, but you only use one side. So most Vs. boards only have one cpu.

Also, the PPU looks just like the CPU, and you remove the PPU when you remove the rom chips. If you leave the ppu, your rom chips are useless without it.... so whoever removed the rom chips to sell, probably removed the cpu and sold it with the roms.

Is the cracked PPU socket on the 1 monitor side, or on the 2nd monitor side?
