I have manage to have some spending money to buy a new pinball that I really want. This would be my third pinball machine I have ever bought.
I'm having a hard time deciding which one. It between the classic Williams Indiana Jones the pinball adventure or the new stern Jurassic park premium.

these these machines would go in the house upstairs, not in a garage.so they have to be super clean and shop.

I like both themes

I have played Indiana Jones, I do like playing it also it has the nostalgia factor with the classic dmd display but there super pricey for a restored one and they are heavy.

Jurrasic park would be a stern clean and factory new game also the price would be lower but I haven't played one yet, don't know if I would like it. Looks good, it has stuff I like in a pinball machine.

I would like to hear your second opinion on this.

I personally would get a new Stern. I have played both, they are both super fun but one is new and one is 25 years old. The wide body is slower and its variable condition is more likely to impact your enjoyment. MHO.

Since you haven't played a new Jurassic Park, you will not be able to decide which one will be better for YOU. The opinions of others as to which game is a better choice is meaningless, in my opinion. You need to play both machines and figure out which one will have the longevity factor for YOU. You're talking a good chunk of change you will be paying, so who cares what anyone else thinks? While others may like one machine over another, you may find out that your opinion is different and you will regret the purchase.

Bottom line: Play them both and see which one you prefer.

Whichever you go with consider the following.

If you go with Jurassic Park, look around your area and see if you can find one that's home use only without play field issues.
It's a couple games old now, so it's not the newest "hot game".
You could probably save yourself $1000 in depreciation that way.

Indiana Jones is what it is regarding price for condition.

Argh! Aye, they may have one, although you'll part with a fair pile of treasure to free it from their clutches.

Sorry, a little pirate humor. Apparently, very little.

I struggle with these threads - where people basically ask what they should buy. You have to buy what you want to play. Pinheads (more on pinside) can tell you advantages of one game versus another but it still comes down to personal preference. For example The Simpsons Pinball Party is a very "stop and go" game and doesn't play anything like Metallica or Ghostbusters.

I have not played the new Jurassic Park either and can't help you with even providing my opinion. What I will say though is that there is nothing like opening a new in box pin. I have purchased two so far and it is a fun experience.

If you do not like JP you could always sell it after a few months. Worst case you are probably taking a $200-$400 loss depending on how easy a sell it is in your area. Highly populated areas are easier sells obviously. So your biggest downside is you "rent" a NIB game at a cost of a few hundred.

My recommendation however is not to buy a NIB game unless you intend to keep the game forever. If you only think you want it I would go on pinside and be the "second owner" at a $200-400 savings or maybe more if you find someone who needs to unload it fast. Pinside has people selling the new Stern JP fairly frequently so I think you'd have an easy time getting one. Only downside is people like to "mod" these games. By "mod" I mean they often add a bunch of cheap ugly LED toys on them that do not match the theme as well as they think they do. A lot of people like that though (to each their own I guess as long as your price reflects that you aren't making me pay for stuff I don't actually want).

I am third owner of my Metallica Pro and I saved about $1,100 over NIB price. Game looks just as good as the ones I actually purchased NIB. Seller was a nice guy and now I know someone else in the area I trust to buy games from.

I agree with the try it before you buy it advice everyone is giving. My friend owns a 1979 Williams Gorgar. It's a simple early solid state pin. No ramps, no multiball, etc. As a dmd fan, I wouldn't think I'd have fun but I played it, fell in-love, bought a project, and restored it.

However the same can be said for a pin you think you'll love, buy it, and be bored with it fast.

Nice! Enjoy that game. NIB pinball is a great experience. Then they multiply...

A little late on this, but yes jp2 pre. blows Indiana Jones out of the water all day long. IJ just never got into that game i found it slow and boring, waaay over price for what it is.

Totally agree. I had all the 1990's Bally/Williams widebodies and IJ was my least favorite. Bally/Williams had 7 widebody games in the 1990's. I even enjoyed playing my Popeye over IJ and I hated Popeye.

Here is how I personally rank them (as an owner of all of them at one time).

1. TZ (Twilight Zone) - Owned this title twice over the years.
2. STTNG (Star Trek Next Gen) - I owned this title 3 times of the years. Traded the 2nd STTNG for a TOTAN and traded the 3rd STTNG for an ACDC premium.
3. DM (Demo Man) - I owned this title twice over the years, it was a great value at $800/$900 back them. I would love to have this game back in my collection.
4. JD (Judge Dredd)
5. RS (Road Show) - I hated the music. If the music was better I would rate this title higher.
6. Popeye - Terrible game.
7. IJ (Indy Jones)

Diner great theme but falls in to that great theme bad game play category. Owned it for about a month and it had to go.
