Leaving this note here for someone else who might run into one.

This is a wood paneled TV I picked up, has digital LED lights for the channel select in the front, UHF/VHF only, 1987 date on it.

Tube is A51JML03X (20")
Horizontal - (Red/Blue) - 4.3 ohm
Vertical - (Brown/Yellow) - 68.9 ohm
Thick tube socket.

Don't have a spare chassis to try and drive it, so back to the wild it goes. Apparently these TVs were subject to a class action lawsuit back in 1991 or so, Mitsu had to pay folks back some small amount of $$$.

I get stuck / fooled with a couple of these when i do multiple tv buys.
Because i forget to bring a tape measure and im usually jamming for time.
at first glance they look like 19"s

It's very easy to distinguish 20" from 19" by simply looking at the screen corners. 19" = round corners, 20" = square corners.

This is terrific info. Thanks for sharing. I'm wondering if you can take a look at this photo and tell me if you think it is round or square corners...

Photos of this TV...

MKL, that rule of thumb (corners of the screen to indicate size) sounds pretty awesome. Thanks!

With some eye training it's impossible to mistake one for the other.

That is very helpful but I always just keep a measuring tape in my truck.

Every 80's 19" MGA I've had through had the CRT mount flanges right up flush with the tube face, so they weren't usable for most applications.
They're some of the only 19" sets that I've left behind when I see them, along with the Thomson sets using bonded yokes, but they're easy to spot through the vents and aren't that common, thankfully.

As for getting to the bottom of the tube size; just look at the model #. They will nearly always start (and ocassionally end) with the CRT size.
In the case of this MGA, model # CS-2045R suggests it's an A51 CRT.

Yes, this is six years later. But....

Picked-up an MGA CS-1937 today that was made in 1985. It has the rounded corners, but I haven't cracked the case yet to view the tube (will update this thread when I do).

If the model number and rounded corners are accurate ways to say for sure, then yes. It was literally sitting on the corner of a gravel road, not five feet from a major highway. Interesting place for someone to leave it. The closest house was a farm at least a mile away. Guess I was meant to save it.

Cool, hope it is a 19"

Always good to rescue a nice tube. Many TVs I crack open have tubes that look clean and hardly used.

Late reply, but I was wondering: What tube model was in there? And do you have a picture of the model sticker on the tube itself? I'm documenting these sets, and that one used a special tube with a screen coating!

Sadly, that tube went to another collector, so I can't help you.
