NEW Bus trip to Galloping Ghost Arcade!

I think you should! But my silly bus idea is dead. Don't know what I was thinking there...

I don't think its silly at all. I wanted to organize a charter from Ottawa to Funspot a few years back. I just didn't get the enthusiasm that I thought I would.

REP'd you anyway.

I think it's a great idea! My local group has had a plan to fly up to Gallopping ghost as we got cheap flights for around $50 round trip, but coordination is hard.

Thanks, that's nice of you guys! I got excited by it at first, but then yeah I had trouble rounding up interested people. Maybe it should be more informal, just some friends in a van.

They have Super Zaxxon at the Galloping Ghost???!!!!

I'm there like yesterday.....

The van idea is good for a while...then everyone starts stinking and you end up by the river.

Website does not work, not that I can go. I'm all the way in New Jersey.
Cheap flights to Chicago and a $30 Uber (can't remember if metro was involved as well). I was out there last spring for work and went two nights. Doc and I spoke for a while. Real class act. Definitely one of my most enjoyable arcade experiences in the last 10 years.... Compared to to crowded conventions.

I can attest, "friends in a van" to "Galloping Ghost" is a fun time. The swap meets make good meet-up dates.

Well, Who ever stops by there someone needs to find out if the Mikie game they have is either kit converted into a Circus Charlie cab or a legit fully dedicated Centuri Mikie.. And report back to us. They claim its legit dedicated but I don't believe it.

wondering this as well. haven't been there in 5 years or so but i don't remember having an issue finding parking

I was just there for the first time within the last 2 months. They have a very small parking lot on the left side of the building, otherwise it was street parking. That said, I didn't have a problem finding parking either time I went there during my trip. The place really is amazing. You could spend hours just walking around the place looking at all the games, they just go on and on. I had a great time and definitely want to go again.

Doc's not the sort to lie about what he has. When he unveiled it, he noted it was deconverted with repro sideart from TOG.

I'm a fan. I watch the Monday Mysteries every week. :)

They continually upgrade what they have with more original and more dedicated cabinets whenever possible. I see the above link is from July 2018 so if Doc mentioned at a later date that they have a dedicated cab, you can be assured that's fact. I'll check it out next time I'm there. Not that I could tell the difference. Mikie dedicated cabs were just disused Circus Charlie cabinets.

Well, Im not calling him a liar but he may be misunderstanding what he perceives it to be. The one they currently have on display (last I seen) was a Circus Charlie at some point in time because in the pics before they messed with it shows the original Circus Charlie colors.. They painted over it with their own color scheme... How did they decide on those colors without seeing a dedicated Mikie or at least pictures of one ?

In your words above you say that Doc mentioned at a later date that they have a dedicated Mikie cabinet ? So does that means he is now claiming he has two dedicated cabinets ? The one currently on display that was converted into a Mikie ? And another one somewhere else ?

A dedicated Mikie would have its own color scheme from the factory already. The factory flyer clearly states they made a "Dedicated Kit" meaning it could be ordered as a kit containing side art, PCB, CP overlay etc etc to be used (Installed) in a Circus Charlie cabinet. Something an operator would do when they were loosing money on Circus Charlie. The flyer also says they "May" have made dedicated cabinets but the wording is confusing in its relationship to the kit and no pictures of said dedicated cabinet seem to exist ANYWHERE.

"Mikie dedicated cabs were just disused Circus Charlie cabinets" Really ? Where did that information come from ? Who Said that ? Is that in documentation from Centuri ? That's a new one on me.

If Doc has a truly dedicated Mikie.. That's great ! that would mean he would have the only dedicated Mikie that ever existed. That would prove the flyer was correct and he would have no problem showing you the serial number stapled inside the cabinet to show what number it is. Dedicated units are going to have their own numbers, there own color schemes, and original hardware inside. Any and all documentation to prove it such would be great.

But what I believe they acquired was originally a Circus Charlie that was already converted to some other Jamma game prior to their purchase. Already in a some what of a disassembled state when they purchased it... they may have also acquired a loose "Mikie Kit" still fresh in the box that had not been used which would probably be more likely to get a hold of as rare as that is and now becomes more plausible to mislead people to believe that they could make this into the only dedicated Mikie cabinet. Many of those details have not been discussed or challenged by anyone that I know of.

It may not be his intension to mislead anyone but when you think you have something very special and you make a claim that it is genuine then you should expect it must be backed up with true facts and not hearsay lest you become mislead. If he says what he has is a true dedicated Mikie then I would think he would be more than happy to show us or anyone to prove its validity considering how rare it would be. I know I would... The proof is in the pudding.

And here I was hoping my bus trip thread would just die a quiet death!
