Burgertime video errors *again* where to go from here?

I've got a BurgerTime that seems to be having a kind of ROM errors. I get strange bars and mismatched lines across the screen. I'm fairly certain that this is from my ROM chips, because in the past, simply re-seating the chips corrected it. Not anymore. I'm not sure what I should do next. Is this a problem in the chips or the sockets? Is it a fix that I could simply handle or should I get it looked at by someone more experienced in PCB issues? Thanks!

If you have a rom burner you could check roms against a know working set. If the rom legs are tarnished or rusty you can clean them with a fiberglass pen or similar tool. You can also check you sockets with a multimeter set to continuity.

I haven't got a burner. When I removed my chips previously, I cleaned the legs with a pink eraser, but honestly, the legs didn't seem too worn. So I should just check the back of my sockets with my meter on continuity? Sounds easy enough. If I get bad readings, how do I determine if I have a bad chip, socket, or trace? Thanks for the help, by the way.

Set your meter to continuity. Then with your roms installed in there sockets put one lead of the multimeter on the rom leg your checking and the other lead of the meter to the rear of that socket. If you get any where you dont get a beep on your meter then thats your bad socket.

Alot of places carry them. I usually order them from who ever im placing an arcade parts order from. But if you end up only needing one or two socket you can just get them at Radio Shack.
