I hear a small pop when I turn on the game. I can hear a very slight hiss out of the speaker when I turn up the volume pot. Other than that, zero sound. Any suggestions as to where I should begin to look for problems? There is no visible issues with any of the caps on the board (near the volume pot).

Thanks!

i'd start at the speaker and determine if its good and wiring is tight and clean. then onto the wiring down to the connector check if there arent any faults. pull the connector off and look at the pins and see if they arent getting weak/oxidized. if you look real close you can see the spacing of the pins inside the connector. are they all the same? can you look and compare them to the others to see if the audio pins might have a larger spacing?
then id replace the electrolytic capacitors and look for any cold solder joints/prolem with the audio circuit traces, resistors and transistors. then test again. if still no sound, look to replace the audio amp/transistor.

Tom,
Verify that all of your voltages are good on your power supply. Those power supplies are prone to failure and could be the source of your problem.

It has a switcher installed and all of the voltages are correct at the harness.

where on the harness did you check that the voltages are correct?
on the PCB, at the edge pads or before the connector near the wires?
does the transistor/amp get real hot?

seems like if you have the correct voltages on the PCB, then you can go towards a problem in the amp circuit. do the capacitor leads look nice and clean or galvanized/oxidated?

schematic lists a 1181 Amplifier. heres the manual if you dont have one.
