Well I picked up a pretty beat up Burgertime cabinet from the guys at 1984 arcade in Springfield. I've never done anything this involved before, but Im super excited to start! Of course this thing was painted black and then had some side art thrown onto it. Pretty much a bare cabinet besides monitor brackets, marquee assembly, and the speaker.

I just want to say that without this forum, I would never have had the confidence to go for this. Everyone is incredibly knowledgeable and are always willing to help. This is going to be a long process, and Im hoping to learn a ton from all of you.

I was hoping I would be able to be careful stripping the black off, but most of the paint including the original side art was flaking off. It was kind of sad seeing the poor guy underneath the black :(

*Sorry for the terrible photos. My camera on my phone suuuuuucks.

well I have seen a fully restored burgertime in person and I will tell u that all your efforts will be worth it once its done, cant wait to see your progress. such a great game and cab!~ GOOD LUCK

Thanks! Im new to pretty much everything do to with building this thing so I hope to learn a lot from it. Progress on this wont be too quick seeing I just graduated college in may and Im poor :) haha Im still really excited about it!

I know this isnt too much of an update, but I stripped, sanded, primed and put a few coats on it. Still needs a coat or two. I know marquee assemblies aren't too exciting, but there isnt too much on this empty cab to restore yet. Steel wool is my friend.

I think I have the board holder too along with all the other stuff I listed in the wanted thread.

Looking good! I worked all day today on my DK restore during the lovely Ozarks rain ;). My cab was in very similar shape when I started. I just finished stripping off the black paint today. I didn't know 1984 sold cabinets.

They dont, one of them replied to a craigslist wanted ad I had. Yeah I tried really hard to get it all painted before this rain. You'll have to post photos of it!

Good Luck with your resto.. I'm at a similar stage with mine:

I really wish Rich at "Thisoldgame.com" would re-stock the kick plate art. I know inkjet is an option but I'd really like silk screened art. But I did notice his has inconsistencies from the original. It's too bad no one makes a stencil for the kick art. Ideally I'd like to stencil my cabinets sides within the next few weeks, especially since the weather will start to dip. I already did the control panel with a new cpo came out fantastic (bought through backtothearcade.com), even stenciled pepper buttons(bought from gamestencils.com), installed a brand new switching (arcadeshop) powersupply kit. Also sitting on new Orange T-Molding. My Marquee and Bezel are original just needed to be cleaned up. Burgertime PCB working 100%. I have brand new smoked plexi, new leg levelers, I'll likely either re-cap / rejuv a g07 or toss in a vision pro crt cga(Sadly when I got the game it was completely without a monitor). I was bored and made a PSONE LCD test monitor rather than lugging a CRT around this tiny guy fits in a tool box:

I was able to play the game blind, but it was so much more re-assuring to be able to actually see the game, even if it was on a test monitor.

Looks nice! Yeah, we are in similar spots, but you have parts ready to go in it. Im glad you posted conversion kit. Are those inkjet significantly worse than the silkscreend ones? Thanks!

Thanks, Your referring to the "Burgertime power supply conversion kit" on Arcade Shop ?

Well, to be honest... Sure it works 100% But IMO it's poorly built by them. The metal tabs that are on the terminals don't have teeth that slide through so it's literally on the edge of the adapter. Poor design IMO but obviously gets the job done, just seems like they should of put slits on those tabs to have it more secure.

Just to let you know if you do order this, they might at least they sent me instructions that was for a pesco power supply which the voltages were arranged differently on the diagram they sent me in relation to the happ power supply.. So this is how the adapter should look on it if they do indeed send you a happ power supply as well. So not only is the design bad but they didn't even send the right diagram / instructions.
