Looking for suggestions - my Burgertime control panel has a hole cut for a trackball where the joystick hole was (game was converted to a golf game). The original mounting holes are there for the joystick, but I am looking for suggestions on patching or covering up the extra diameter of the trackball hole. I could just install the new CPO over it as is, but it would probably be easy to see the outline of the larger diameter hole under the CPO. I was thinking of using epoxy to glue down a piece of sheet metal (with a smaller joystick sized hole in the middle) on the underside of the CP, and then filling with bondo and sanding smooth. But open to any other creative solutions.

Pretty tough one to get really clean. I know there have been some that have had another piece of metal the same diameter welded in place and then angle-grinded the welds down flush. But what your suggesting is probably the more common method with mixed results.

If you don't have a welder or feel you don't have enough experience to pull this off then I would just take this to your local metal shop. The risk of both your patch and your panel warping if you're not careful is going to be a bit high.
