Burger Time Cocktail Monitor wave issue

No just a slight wave like a flag in the wind. When the monitor gets close to the speaker/old power supply is when it starts. No discoloration
The previous owner said the game looked fine. It was just moved from Florida to Wisconsin

I'd be testing a new power supply then first. Then another speaker next.

But my question also is why it's fine when the monitor is farther away from the cabinet?? How does a switching power supply have to do with it??. The speaker is could understand?

Transformers produce magnetic fields. It's how they do what they do. Switching power supplies are transformers too. You have a huge transformer in the suitcase under that metal shield. That's why the metal shield is there. Can you lower the switching power supply to the bottom of the cabinet and get further away from the tube?

I will try. Thx

The good news is that the original suitcase power supply appears to be there. If it were me, I would rip the switcher out of there and rebuild the original.
I would too. Many for sale on EBay. Someone here on KLOV probably has one for sale as well. Only thing is undoing all that hacked wiring that occurred when switching to a switcher.

So I was informed if it was the power supply it would happen all the time. The wave. I was told it's either the speaker or maybe a degaussing issue on the monitor. Any thought???

The wave stops when you remove the monitor from the cabinet. The wave comes back when you put the monitor back in. Suitcase is intact with its magnetic shield. Original speaker is intact. (***Believe it's original and seems to be shielded. Can you test the speaker to see if you any metal is drawn to it? The back end is a magnet and if it's not shielded, metal will be attracted. Shielded, it will not.***) The only thing that has been monkeyed with its the power PCB has been gutted and a power switching supply has been carelessly dropped in very close proximity of the tube, which would most likely generate interference. I see the original power pcb brackets are still in place and are probably prohibiting you from dropping the switching power supply down to the bottom of the cab and away from the tube? Looks like the switching power supply is riding on the original power pcb horizontal bracket, correct?

If I put a magnet it does attract in the speaker but doesn't seem to pull the magnet towards it.

You lost me on the magnetism of the speaker. Will a screw, bolt or nut stick to the magnet of the speaker? Magnet is the bottle cap/nipple shape at the back end of the speaker

The power cord to the switching power supply might also be a source of interference. Get an extension cord and plug the power supply into the extension cord outside of the cabinet via the coin door. You got enough length of wire to get the switching power supply outside?

Just to keep the progress documented - I just got off the phone with Chris and we eliminated the speaker and the switching power supply as being the source of the wave in the image on the monitor. Monitor chassis is now the main suspect. Chris is an hour away from @mecha and will reach out to him to inquire about getting the chassis recapped and inspected.

well I think I found the source of the wavy picture. I saw the switching power supply had this fat gauge power wiring plugged into the service outlet. I unplugged it and ran TPG and there was no wave. so if we get medium power supply back in here there should be no issues.

just one problem. they cut the old plugs and put forks, and I don't speak Bally Midway power wiring, if anyone has the order of the wire colors to the plugs that would be helpful to the cause.

beyond that I can finally make my HD K4900 service video. 🤣 stay tuned

There is a cap on the main board that messes with the sync. I believe it's c10. Replace that. It might cause your problem as well
The monitor is good. It is the power supply. Thanks to @mecca for looking at it for me. Going to put the rebuilt original power supply in there. I'll keep you all updated. They used the service plug to draw ac power to the switching power supply and that somehow is causing interference.

If anyone get post the wiring diagram for mecca it would be greatly appreciated.

It was hard to read every post in here, but it's the power supply's, speaker, etc, proximity to the monitor when the top is closed. I had to build a shield around a power supply once that took care of it.
That's a little risky if not done properly. Finding a rebuilt power supply should be $100 ish , and is the correct next choice.

I found a rebuilt power supply but mecca needs the wiring diagram to properly install it.
