Well, hey everyone this is my first "official" pinball restoration thread. Just shy of two weeks ago, i managed to pick up this lil love for $200 non-working. Some of the inserts had lifted and the mylar was coming up. Half of the playfield GI would light and if you kept flipping the power switch (as the owner showed me) it would randomly start playing a little drum track and that's all i could get out of it. When i got it home i tried to get the other half of the GI working and couldn't get it. Nor could i get it to coin up, none of the displays were working AT ALL. Here are some pictures i took right when i got it home.

When i got it home, i started poking around on the inside seeing how much damage there was electronically. It wasnt pretty AT ALL. Even the display board has quite a bit of corrosion damage on it, but i already have another one on the way thankfully. My biggest decision right now is to ATTEMPT to repair the board (parts would only run me around $50-70) and spend tons of time doing such, or just attempt to find another MPU which unfortunately is an original system 11, its not an 11A, 11B, 11C etc. And they arent compatible to my knowledge. So im kind of in a pickle right now.

Here is what the Display board looks like and it DOES have corrosion on the opposite side as well unfortunately.

Here are the pictures of the VERY VERY ugly and non promising MPU board

In the meantime of crying over the MPU, ive decided id start poking around and try to get the GI lighting to work. Well i finally tracked it down to a pretty common plug being fried due to poor engineering on the GI circuit plug on the power supply. I wiggled it around and i was able to get the whole GI to light thankfully. So that will be getting replaced soon. So since i got it running, it was offically time to strip the playfield!

After stripping the playfield 90% i decided that lifted mylar had to go. Using the freeze method it didnt bring hardly any casualties other than some VERY minor touchups on the black around a couple of inserts. No biggie. I also began tearing down and cleaning the cabinet. Next step after completely disassembling the cabinet im going to get my stencil kit ordered and get this baby painted up real good!

Well, spent part of the evening restoring aboug 75% of the coin door so far. I have to sandblast all of the coin slots and mech mounts yet before i re-attach them. I also took those nasty speaker grills, vent grills and coin box brackets and repainted them today as well. Looks soo sexy!!!

Well after hunting down a flatbed scanner to scan the side art, Me and jeff aka pinball pimp have been working together to get a High Speed stencil kit into the works. He said he should be releasing it late June. SO, in that case now that he has my scans its time to sand and do bondo work!
Someone before me tried to bondo the cab and did a HORRIBLE job, LOOK! They even bondo'd over the little plastic foot on the bottom of the head!
So after a little bondo and some time shes starting to come together!
