Picked up a pretty friggin' sweet Midway Space Invaders last week. It's got a few chips in the paint down low and it's missing the backdrop and the green part of the overlay but, all in all, I'm very satisfied with it.

It's only other flaw is not really a flaw in that nearly every Midway Space Invaders I ever saw after 1979 was like it: The paint on the monitor glass in front of the bulbs has been nearly burned away. 3 neat little circles of near transparency in front of each bulb.

I really don't think I want to try and replace the paint. The whole thing looks so dang good and- like I said- alot of Space Invaders got the bulb burn. If I wanted to get really anal about it I could shop for a yet-burned replacement. My only question is, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to prevent further damage?

If you're serious about preventing incandescent bulb burn in the future, the only option you'll have is to replace them with LED clusters. It's not original, but you will prevent burn.

Thanks, guys.

The parts manual (which , by the way, looks brand new; even got the warranty card to be returned to Midway, never filled out [wonder if I should send it in to them? Ha.]) calls for bulbs #1895. I've been told that #57 will do. The site Joeycuda linked to carries, among others, 2 similar models: #44/47 and #89. I'm going to order one of each and, if one works, four more of and see how they look.

Thanks, again.
