Building my gameroom (finally) and am on the fence on the flooring

Well finally my project is underway (I will create a new thread shortly depicting my progress)! All prep work and framing is completed including hanging of two doors. The room is about 50' x 25' and even though I am not close to the completion, I wanted to get an idea on what you all preferred to use as flooring in your gameroom/arcade. I have three ideas...1) Lay ceramic Floor tile, 2) Install Black Light Carpeting, 3) Lay Ceramic Floor Tiles and lay on top black light carpeting (Bounded). The reason behind the third option is simple. If I ever had to sell the house, I would be be able to easily remove the black light carpet which may not be so desirable to a home buyer. What say you all?

Binding a carpet is CHEAP I had a carpet wall-to-wall bound and put a cushin over it on a Hardwood floor. When I move I'm taking it with me and the floor will be perfect under it.

Great ideas guys. How about putting tile down, then the cushin, the the bounded carpet? For some reason with any type of dampness in the basement, wouldn't I have an issue with wood?

You would want to use laminate floor for below grade. I just finished a basement remodel at a house I'm now putting up for sale =0(. I used the $.69 flooring from Lumber Liquidator and it look pretty darn good.

Gonna see if I can find the pics

EDIT:
Not sure if the link will work..I can't check it as I'm at work. I just finished the baseboard and shoe molding last weekend. It should be a public link to facebook

+1. Anytime you might get water or moisture seeping, you want to use laminate instead of hardwood. That stuff is tough. We put it in out family room and never had a problem with moving furniture or the dogs (2 big Labrodors) scratching it up. We had hardwood in the previous house and had to get it refinished once a year because of scratches.

You might also want to consider binding the rug as an area rug the fits infront of the machines but doesn't go wall to wall. That way when you move machines around the carpet won't catch and bunch up. you would also be able to roll the carpet up and get it out of the way when you needed to. If it was wall to wall that would make it difficult once the first machine "nailed it down".

Ceramic tile would not work as well?

At our last house the laminate flooring we put in was awful. We had to be paranoid about any water on the floor because if it touched the seams it would soak up the water and expand like particle board. I'm sure the stuff we got (from Costco!) was just crap and other laminate products are great with water, but just beware. From experience I can tell you that not all laminate products are great in moist environments!

For this reason alone I wanted to go with ceramic tile. I do have a water problem in the basement but have had one in the past. And with basements, you just never know. My last house I had put down indoor/outdoor carpeting and we had two floods. I am just looking to play it safe. My main concern is the cabs on top of the ceramic tiles. But if I put down a barrier and cushion first that should be no problem with the bounded black light carpeting. I planned on leaving about a foot of floor space visible around the entire room.

I went w/ ceramic tile. I have plans to eventually get some arcade carpet and make a runner type rug for the middle of the gameroom. I did the tile for fear of eventual water leakage.

You all have been helpful. I think I am going with Ceramic Tiles with black light bounded carpet in the majority of the room. I will leave about 1 - 2' of tile exposed from every wall. So it will be like a huge area rug. I like that idea.
