Building my collection...should I get it

one of my big issues was I wasn't a big arcade guy growing up. We only had 1-2 places in town that actually had games, and that was one or two at best. Any suggestions?

So...why are you into this? Not trying to be a prick, just wondering what you're trying to accomplish buying arcade machines with no big history of attachment. Most of us are into these things because they are part nostalgia for when we were big into arcades and we love playing these games. Enjoying working on these things sort of happens naturally as a result of those two drives.

I really, really, really recommend finding MAME and trying out a bunch of games. If there is any way of checking out some machines nearby, I'd try hunting down and playing those as well. This stuff can get really overwhelming space and time wise if you wind up with a bunch of games you don't enjoy.

you want it yet? :p lol

Nope... Zaxxon is cool but really it's not that great of a game. You really need to know what you are doing in collecting.

YES GET MAME ON YOUR PC and figure out what games you really like.
Just getting a few random arcades cause you think it's cool is the wrong way to go about it. Many of these emulate just fine. Unless you have the love for the upright, you have stumbled into the wrong hobby.

You may do good with a full MAME machine actually.

Too many guys have machines that go unplayed. I really don't play my Robotron MW and because of that reason it's at the bottom of my totem pole and will some day be up FS. For $25 it started as a project and still is $500 later.

Well I always loved gaming, it's just I had to get my gaming fix from a home game system, not an arcade. However, last week I picked up a WWF Wrestlefest (I make my living as a professional wrestler, so I had to get it), and it's definitely sparked my interest in other arcade games as well.

yeah I know... I saw it and the WFest was a lost cause. Hacked into a Ghostbusters cab and with probably a broken monitor. MAME will probably be an excelent tool for you to figure out what you need in your collection.

its cool silentsamurai is cutting me a great deal on a 4 controller cabinet, so it'll be back to the way it SHOULD be.

I'll bite, who do you wrestle as and where? :p

my gimmick name is Corvus (no not the ones guys have posted pix of, theres more than one of us apparently lol, I thought I was being unique lol). Right now I don't have any feds that I work for, I recently moved to Michigan, and I don't have any connections to feds up here.

So you're not the guy from APW out here in NorCal? Cool and thanks for sharing. Pro-wrestling always looks like a lot of (painful) fun. I wish I had at least tried getting a training session in it when I was in better shape. :)

this one showed up on google also.

Nope lol and it is fun, thats what got me into arcade games in the first place, there are some amazing wrestling ones out there.

Thats a nice looking example. If you like the game and its working all the way, $250 is an OK price, but certainly no bargain either. Zaxxon's are notorious for sound issues, mainly certain sounds fade over time. A cap kit on the board fixes this, but for his asking price, kick the tires and look for the issue. If its there, point it out and haggle.
