Building a repro Quantum PCB / cabaret

I picked up a Centipede cabaret cabinet yesterday to use for this project. Will be taking some measurements from my Tempest cabaret to cut the extra vents to suit a 6100 monitor. A guy on my bowling team welded up the button hole on my spare centipede cabaret control panel that I'll be using. Just need to put a bit of Bondo to finish it up.

The cabaret cabinet only has one speaker but quantum uses two... what do I do? Mount two smaller speakers in place of the single 6x9?

I also need to find someone to make a CPO and marquee.

Does Quatum need a steeper effect for game play? Or is the second speakier just for MOAR PAWR?

If stereo is not important I'd consider just combining the 2 channels before they go to the power amp and use the single speaker.

Ditto!

I've seen two smaller speakers mounted where one was originally, but the owner made an adapter plate, so the mounting worked. I'm sure somebody could 3D print it, or you make it from wood.

I built my Crystal Castles cabaret with two speakers, but I had to make a custom kick plate to make it work.

I'd like to leave the kick plate original and don't know how to design stuff to be 3d printed. I'll try to make something out of wood. You'll never see it anyway.

On thing to consider, using two 5×8 speakers turned horizontally, rather than one 6x9 vertically. This would allow the majority of the sound to exit the original speaker grill.

Hey man, I'm just giving you options and examples. Pretty easy to pop those old kick plates off. Running two speakers pretty much in the exact same spot isn't gonna sound quite right. They need to be spread out a little bit for any real impact.

I think it sounds fine with one speaker on mine, lol. Would two speakers make that much of a difference, it's still mono sound right? The schematics just one speaker anyway:

Nope, was wrong, two speakers on the sheet, but they are just wired in parallel.

Does anyone know of a good source online to get a dark piece of tempered glass to use? "One day glass" looks legit but I'm just not sure how the color/tint will be compared to OEM. I think graylite 14 is preferred but no longer available?

My local glass shop claims their SUPER GREY is GREYLITE 14. YMMV
Where "14" represents the % amount of light transfer. So, use that spec as a guide.

And an original Q upright does have two 6x9 speakers similar to most Atari cabs in this style - one under the marquee overhang and one under the CP.
Of course, Space Duel is the king of speakers with two and two make four. :)

I'm convinced the key to getting front glass is finding a good small town glass shop. The shop in my rural south Alabama hometown will cut Greylite pieces for me at a half to a third of the quotes I get in metro Atlanta.

I used one day glass. It was $150 shipped and took less than two weeks. It might be just a hair darker than OEM but is perfectly fine IMO.

I think the last sheet I bought at the hometown store ran me about $80, last year. Local shop here quoted me $180 IIRC.

Can you provide the dimensions and model of glass you got from them? I have a repro Centipede cabaret cab that I want to make a Quantum.
Thanks.
