Just like the title says, I want to build a game from scratch. I want to build a custom 60-in-1 for a very good friend. The cabinet will be very compact, so I can't start with a pre-existing cabinet or components.

I know the obvious stuff like a monitor, controls, PC board, etc. I don't know what I need to wire up the controls or power it, etc. Is there a website or blog that lists everything I need to buy or how to put it together? I did a little searching and didn't find much.

It is probably a lot simpler than I think. Hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction.

Thanks for your help!

here is the info on how to wire the power. So basically you can see all the items you will need.

60 in 1 uses a jamma pin out so you will need a jamma wiring harness. This harness basically connects power to the board, signal from the board to the monitor and your controls. As for controls you will need a joystick, 2 buttons for player 1 and 2 select at least 2 buttons for fire, jump ect depending on which game you are playing. There is one game on the 60 in 1 that can utilize a 3rd button but the board is also set up so that game can be played with only 2 buttons. Some folks also like to have a set of two or three buttons on both sides of the joystick so the games can be easily played by left handed and right handed players.

BTW all the stuff you need can be bought at www.therealbobroberts.net Which is also the site I linked you to for the wiring info. Plenty of other useful info there as well.

Thanks guys!! I truly appreciate the help. I will start digging into those website links and get started on my machine. I can't wait!!! :)

I didnt see anyone post this yet, but try Bob Roberts. Hes got all the parts you need and is a great guy and a huge asset to the arcade community.

How compact a cabinet are you looking for? Lots of multi games are in converted cocktail cabs or maby you could find a parted out mini.

It will be tabletop small. As small as I can make it. Something along the same idea as this:

My friend is unbelievably good at classic games and loves playing them. He does not have room to store an upright or a cocktail table in his place. A small tabletop machine however would fit the bill perfectly. It would also cost me far less to ship it to him than a larger game.

At this point, I might build him a small MAME machine with the games he likes onboard. I think it may be a lot easier, but I guess I'll see as the project continues.

Thanks again for the help and ideas. They are truly appreciated.
