So awhile ago, my Bubbles came up with a RAM ERROR XXX, so I switched chips out and the error followed the chip. SO I said, "Phew, easy, replace the RAM chip and you're good to go (I ordered 2 from Bob Roberts). Except I was drinking a few beer when I decided to replace it (I know, I know ...) and I ended up putting it in the wrong way (I actually burnt my finger when I touched it, so it had to be wrong).

Anyhow, my question is (before I do any more damage), did I fry the chip (no big deal, I have since ordered 24 replacement 4116 chips), or did I damage my board (not so good, since board repair here in Canada is pretty much non-existent)

Please help me bring Bubbles back to life ....

Shawn

Although its possible it is very unlikely it damaged anything other than the ram. A replacment should fix you up.

From my experiences with 4116 the chip normally just takes a hit. Toss it away and install a new one and you should be good to go.

When you do Install chips on boards, Try to keep the board from flexing to as little as possible by supporting the board underneath. This will help in preventing traces from breaking.

best of luck

When replacing chips always make sure the notches on the end of the chips are all facing the same way.
