Bubble "Labyrinth" and Spaceship Battle (Names ?)
Hello everyone:
I am trying to locate the following titles, or at least ascertain the names of them for the starting point of my search.
Back in the early-mid 1970's there was an arcade in Queens in the New York City area called "Adventurer's Inn" which featured a LOT of ECMs. I remember two vividly and am actively trying to donate these to ACAM. Problem is, I have no idea what the titles are as I was just a kid when I played them.
The first was a bubble-top version of the handheld maze game "Labyrinth"...the rectangular maze where you had knobs to tilt it left/Right as well as forward/backward as you guided the small metal ball through the wooden chutes and avoided the holes along the way.
This sit-down version had a chair, two levers and two foot pedals. One set of controls tilted the bubble-enclosed maze (think "Chexx Hockey") left/right while the other handles forward/backward. There were chutes in the maze as well as ramps along the way some of which you had to jump the ball across a chasm else it fell down and you lost ground. About 75 or so holes from start to end, and this was a LOT of fun back then trying to get that ball to the end even once.
The second title was a large enclosed cabinet with periscopes on opposite sides. It was a 2-player competetive title, and what you saw through the scopes was a moon-style landscape in black-light. You each controlled a spaceship, one flourescent red and the other flourescent green. I think the goal was to shoot at each other through the obstacles which included stalagmites, craters and, if I remember correctly, moon creatures that popped their heds up through the craters.
This was a time-based game and also a lot of fun. I just can't remember the title at all.
At the time I thought this was the best arcade ever, having been to only a small handful (mostly in Coney Island) and this one seemed to have everything. I never found out what happened to the arcade but the memories of the titles there is strong.
They had a "Sea Raider" which I donated to ACAM awhile back, a couple of cylinder-based driving games and even one currently on Ebay where you controlled toni tanks on a battleground.
ECMs ruled in those days and I'd really like to track these two down or at least find out what the names were for each. Any help would be appreciated in identifying these and if possible locating them.
Thanks !!
Robert
