Brunswick Circus / Stern Elvis - Desirable machines, or?

Have the chance to pick these two up on a trade (getting rid of things I don't need/want anymore). I don't personally have any interest in either of the titles, but am wondering if they're generally desirable titles.

There are definitely other pins I'm interested in, and if they'd be worth having in order to trade into something I'm more interested in I would like to snag them. But if they're more likely to sit around collecting dust in my house instead of his, I'm probably going to pass.

Anyhow, info/thoughts/opinions all welcome.

The "Brunswick Circus" is a home machine. Not particularly desirable, and not particularly well built. The play field isn't painted - it essentially has a big flat decal over the entire play field with the artwork printed on it, and it can bubble a bit depending upon how it's been stored.

Game plays well enough, and not bad for a home title really, but nothing fancy.

Pretty simple overall and easy to work on - as long as the MPU board isn't dead, it should be relatively easy to get going if it's down.

PinWiki has more information as well and details and a schematic for that particular game. If it's working, and in good overall condition, it's something you may be able to sell for $100 for so.

Key with Elvis will be overall condition, but that's a much newer/modern game, and I'm sure you'd have no trouble finding somebody interested in it as long as it's not trashed.

So the Circus is likely not even worth the space in the house.

I guess I may as well go see the Elvis at least. If it's in superb shape, maybe I'll bite and hope to trade it for something more in my interest.

I'm not remotely up to date on prices, but if pinside's price estimate for a good looking game is right I should at least be breaking even on my trade offer, if not trading up.

Circus was made in two versions: single player and 4 player.

The 4 player version is much better than the single player. Totally different cabinet, circuit boards, playfield, and power supply than the cheapo single player version.

I wonder if the "Elvis" is actually a Brunswick "ALIVE" since they also have a Brunswick Circus?

Thanks everyone for your input.

Fingers crossed for good condition I guess :)

If it is a Stern Elvis, they didn't make a ton of them and they still go in the $4-5K range depending on condition. I actually played the game for the first time this year and was very surprised at how fun it was. It's a really neat layout and there's a good amount to do. I was excited for a second because I was enjoying it so much that I figured with the theme I could pick it up cheap...not so ha! I'd grab it if you can, it's a good and often overlooked game.

Steve Ritchie designed it, arguably the greatest designer of all time. All his games are fun.
