I have scanned and digitally cleaned up the schematic for the Brunswick/Briarwood "Aspen" home pinball machine. The documents are posted here:

Also available are the schematic and switch matrix chart for the Brunswick "Alive" home pinball machine:

The Aspen manual is now completely scanned, digitally cleaned up, and converted into individual pdf pages. There are 27 pages, but I have no way of combining them all into a single manual.

Hold the fort! I just found out there are TWO versions of ASPEN.

Model 55-860200-2 dated October 1977 with "Briarwood" on the backglass and manual. This version uses a 3 bar chimebox for sounds (no speaker) and the schematic is different than the later Aspen version. Do not interchange the gameboards between the two versions or they will be destroyed upon power up! This is the manual I have on model 55-860200-2.

Model 55-860228-2 dated October 1978 with "Brunswick" on the backglass and manual. This version uses electronic sounds and has a speaker. This uses the same gameboard as Alive and is wired the same.

So there must have been an early production and a late production of Aspen.

I noticed Alive is model 55-860224-2 dated October 1978.

Resurrecting this old thread, I just got an Brunswick aspen in for repair and found it interesting that the electrical schematic was still affixed to the back of the cabinet. Attached for your reference. Thanks, Ken, for your links!2021-10-29 10.02.33.jpg

You're awesome Ken, thanks for doing this.

This is a nice little home model game.

I didn't even notice the date. What happened to him?

Edit: OMFG, I had no idea. How sad. Rest in peace, Ken.

My shop just purchased all the Brunswick MPUs from Steve at The Pinball Resource and we am checking them over and will be able to service these boards soon. I also have the test fixture for the boards. We are currently drawing up the schematics for the two MPUs. Burns up hours! Hope to be able to make a replacement for the spiders in the future once we run out of working chips/boards...

Ken said something back around 2012/2014 that there were two versions of the Aspen game - I will look into that too.

There are at least two different MPUs.
55-101825 has a single Rockwell spider chip and a 5 digit score display, 5 balls, and 4 players supported.
55-10190 has two Rockwell spiders and a 6 digit display, 5 balls and 4 players supported.
